Final Fantasy IX

It has a story that starts out deceptively simple and light-hearted but goes in some pretty dark places as it progresses. Zidane's story is very similar to Goku's from Dragonball in the sense that
Vivi's story is tragic as he
Garnet is a young monarch who
Freya

The villain of Final Fantasy IX is also quite diabolical when you discover what he really is and what his goals are. He is revealed to be
It's also pretty nasty that he is

The story of Final Fantasy IX has a prominent theme of death come to think of it. But I'll let people go through it to discover it for themselves.

i don't know if you ever played any sukidoen games but Sukidoen 2-3 >> any FF game story wise ff9 was a part of my childhood as well but it has nothing compared to sukidoen 3 story and a feel of accomplishment after finishing the game.

Chrono Cross can be a lot of things but political is a first i heard.

I mean, sure you can relate some aspects of Chrono serie to politics, but the true theme is cause and consequence.

I have honestly missed those old japanese Role playing games where it was more about the game play and story over graphics. One thing that i hate about final fantasy 15 ( i know its not released yet) that its going to be open world i do not believe single player Japanese RPG with open world's is a good choice

If strictly talking about political games, i would say FF Tactics and FFXII.

FF12 was good and ff12 was in the same universe as FF tactics i think? but there are other JRPG in my opinion were better than most FF series which were overshadowed by FF by western players.

Breath of Fire IV was amazing, recommend it to anyone who wants to sink hours into a good game w/ amazing story and a nice twist at the end.

Forgot to mention that Mikoto
If they ever did a sequel to Final Fantasy IX I'd imagine she'd feature pretty heavily.

Also, you mean this theme?

The game which has the most emotional impact on me is probably Final Fantasy X. The story of that game, particularly Yuna's story, is similar to my own.

Playing through it again over the last year... it's really made me realize how much I love the story, and how much I can sorta relate to it now.

Also: Valkyrie Profile.

My god, that game.

"Ye must desire respite from thy empty existence... thou shalt have it!"

The spell quotes alone made me fall in love.

The FFT War of Lions version is better than the original one (available even on mobiles).

Personally the PSP version rocks. Even better if you can get another PSP to play the amazing multiplayer modes.
