What Do You Drink And Why? |

What do you drink and why?
It's no secret that many of us enjoy a good adult beverage. So, what's your poison and why?
all of them.
I think my memory works too well & it helps me forget trivial ***. Well, I meant "why is that your drink of choice", but sure, that works too.
lol, whoops!
whiskey & water is the 'go to' lately. idk why. I'm riding shotgun with Sinatra, straight Jack Daniels is my affordable go-to.
But I enjoy so many different beverages on occasion. I've cut back a lot recently because I was drinking more than was healthy, but it does make you enjoy your drinks more when you don't drink them as often. Savor them a bit more (and generally only buy higher-quality stuff). Jack Daniels. I used to drink lager when I was younger but I just went off it, can't stand the stuff now.
I rarely drink at all, but when I do it's always with Jack, I just prefer it over anything else. Water, because it helps me live.
Beer. Because I prefer not to feel like ***in the AM. Stouts > Ales > Lagers.
Alternatively, hard cider when I feel like something refreshing rather than filling. Usually Jagermeister or Capt. Morgan Private stock but lately this has got me hooked:
I'm not even a fan of cinnamon really, and a lot of people I know LOVE fireball and I drank it socially until I tried JD Fire. This stuff is sooooo smooth, but it is definitely cinnamon WHiskey. I've always felt worse after a bender with beer than with liquor. The better the beer, the less I want to get drunk off of it and just have one or two to enjoy for the actual quality. I'm going to get you a t-shirt that just says "I'm that guy," with the exception of when you go to concerts, where you can wear the t-shirt of the band you're going to go see. Then everyone will already know you're that guy anyhow. Offline

Still have about half a bottle of the one I bought for last Christmas. In short, I barely drink. Being married to an alcoholic showed me the dark side of alcohol intake and put me almost completely off it.

Johnny Walker Platinum (But black label is just fine also) Scotch and Amaretto. A close second would be vodka amaretto and cranberry juice.
And assorted craft beer of all varieties. Why drink because if I don't the terrorists win ! It makes me more social than I've ever been in my entire life. (completely opposite of life before beer/liquor) And I normally only drink socially. Also relieves stress and gives me vitamin B or something ! I'm intrigued by the why part more so than the what people drink. I should answer the question as well, I guess!
I was a big Bombay Sapphire and tonic fan for years. At this point though, I really only drink lightly at conferences with co-workers, and sometimes not even then. Booze+the ridiculous dryness of hotel rooms is a surefire hangover. I didn't have a particular reason for stopping, and I still like it fine, just isn't something I think to do anymore. Jack Daniels, or really a lot of liquor, just no tequila for me.

I actually made the switch from liquor to beer after I discovered all the great craft beers.
But if given the choice between Scotch or beer I'd take Scotch every time. I thought more about the why. I don't really have any hobbies so I guess going out on the weekend to drink is my hobby. Unless you consider trying new beers a hobby...sure beats admitting you have a drinking problem ! I'm a fan of Woodford Reserve with a few cubes of ice. I have whiskey rocks but I actually like the water diluting my drink - plus I love watching the mixing lines. I'm a super casual drinker though, like once a week, and one is my limit cause I get floored pretty easy.

Stella Artois, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Red's Apple Ale for beer.
Bailey's with milk on the rocks or coffee if I'm in the mood for it. And usually a nice glass (or two) of wine with dinner. Type depends on what we are eating, but I'm partial to a sparkling white or a merlot. If I'm out with friends just grabbing a few drinks, then it's a Tom Collins. I'd usually get a bottle of either after a night shift. Then I was explained that it's the definition of alcoholism, so I stopped. 50% of why I miss England are those two bottles. I usually go for Pineapple cocktails in bars, and I always forget their names. If it's a bar that doesn't serve cocktails, I just take whatever beer people are having. The older I get, the less I enjoy Scotch/Tequila/Vodka. I have no idea why. I avoid them as a result. Bismarck.Magnuss said: » Ha! I'm already that guy! Lakshmi.Rooks said: » Booze+the ridiculous dryness of hotel rooms is a surefire hangover. The cure for that is to fill up the hotel bathtub with hot water before you go to sleep and leave the bathroom door open and to answer your question scotch, cognac, bourbon Edit: oh right and why... to make the voices in my head quieter so I can sleep Basil Hayden's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Whiskey was my first alcohol of choice and after years of going through many different types of scotch, bourbon, rye, and irish whiskeys, i’ve found my drink. Lagavulin, Ardbeg, The Glenrothes, Macallan, The Glenlivet, Knob Creek, Maker’s Mark, Blanton’s, Woodford Reserve, Pappy Van Winkle – I could keep going but... Basil Hayden’s is what I stock my house with. I prefer to drink liquor; usually vodka or bourbon on the rocks. Stoli and Wild Turkey 101 are my go-to's. The only cocktails I order regularly are Martinis and gin & tonics, and I love a good margarita when I'm at a Mexican restaurant (my favorite food).
Why Martinis? They're a family tradition. Bombay Sapphire or Hendrick's. The first thing we do at Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, someone's birthday etc. is have a martini. Every summer my family gets together in Montauk where we'll have Martinis at Gosman's Restaurant. Before my cousins, my sister, and I were old enough to drink, the adults would often give us their gin soaked olives. We all acquired the taste early on. As for beer, I love pilsners, brown ales and porters/stouts. I don't like IPAs or fruity, flavored beers. Any kind of spiced rum is what I normally go with, mainly Captain, since I'm diabetic (Type 1) and it's what my body has adjusted to the easiest. That, and it's just really forking good.
Basically, rum cuz diabeetus and yay. rum and mead~
