Well, one is free to debate whether or not it's a good policy decision.

Tactically speaking, taking what turned out to be a wildly unpopular (at best, deeply questioned) move and trying to see if it will blow over is the best move available.

what exactly are you planning on changing? your socks and underwear? You don't have the power to change anything else.
