Magic Bursting

IF you can somehow get a party that will set up for magic bursts, BLM and SCH are absolute monsters of DDs right now.
I lacked the ability to test bursts on BLM solo, but on SCH I have noticed that magic bursts are doing insane damage. I tested on knotted roots(which resist earth damage iirc) just magic bursting stone and stone III.
Stones initial damage was high 600s, MB was doing around 2200. Stone III did about 1600, MB was doing 5500. It's such a massive increase that my only particular worry is that it will be far too easy to take hate and die now, since evidently the enmity update has made it harder for normal DD to keep hate off the WHM.
Going in with the skillchain update, I feel like SE is telling us to use some goddamn teamwork, and rewarding us for doing so.

Mind doing some testing for magic bursts?
note the main/sub, alternate a MB gear with static INT & MAB, no m.crit equipped.
non-helix nuke
nuke w/o burst
2 part skillchain burst.
3 part skillchain burst.
4 part skillchain burst.
helix
repeat but don't bother with the MB equip alternation.
I'm interested to find out
1: if the elemental weakness is a new multiplicative stat or if it is additive with an already existing stat. (MB or MBB)
2: new math of skillchain # bonus.

The damage is approximately doubled from what it used to be. Not doubled bonus (1.3-> 1.6), but doubled (1.3->2.6).

Is that with a helix? from what I was reading on BG forum, that includes the weakness buff.

This might bring back Mizukage-no-Kubikazari, if it's what I think it might be. I don't think there has been any definitive testing on it, but with the Magic burst damage +10, if that's 10%, that's huge now.

None of this better get nerfed, it has been so long since blm has been desired(especially for nuking) in a party setting..
ToAU we were forced into magic party exp groups.. Abyssea we got mostly reduced to proccing. So I say about time.

Seems like having a RUN and/or COR would help a MB party significantly, since you'd have Gambit/QD (note that they don't stack) and then Inspiration (up to 60% Fast Cast) and whatever rolls you need.

I like the new bursts tbh. Makes mages seem more 'glass cannon'-y to me. Instead of spamming 1-2k nukes, waiting with a T5 to burst off a 3-4 step chain for 40k (just pulling numbers out of my ***, but you get my point)

Noice, BLU doing CDC > CDC > BA + Rail Cannon should be juicy, or Savage Blade > CA + Thrashing > BA + Rail Cannon.

When I read and think about magic burst being powerful. All I can think is the thief and war need to hold TP til mages are ready for the next nuke . . .

After some preliminary testing on SCH, the highest I pulled off on a 5 step solo without Ebullience was 18k. This is without any additional Magic Burst Damage other than SCH's built-in 9%.

Thinking about it again, RUN and COR have pretty good skillchain options together too, since most greatsword WSs are Fragmentation, Distortion, and Light, and COR WSs are big on Fusion, Gravitation, and Darkness.

Actually with hate being broken at the moment lots of mages is a pretty viable strat. We've been doing vagary with mage pt and tank pt, works quite well b/c JAs are crazy hate whereas nukes aren't as much hate and magic bursts seem to be even less.

Does anyone know if the 15% magic burst damage from jp/ gifts counts towards the 40% magic burst bonus cap. Or is it considered job trait. And exceeds the 40% cap?

Did you manage to efficiently deploy SAMs with Sengikori, Loire?
With 2 sams and 3 min cooldown that would be 2x 25% bonus every 3 mins, sounds pretty hot on paper.

I know Fiv and Niv did some testing with magic burst gear when they found that the mujin band gave 5% extra burst damage on top of the 40% cap. Fiv says that the jp / gift bursts do not count as part of the 40% cap.
