Can Anything Be Done?

My account got hacked the other night... I got the account back but all my chars have been deleted so now I have to go through this rollback thing that takes at least three weeks XD. Anyways when I do a search here for some of the items that I had I see one char selling everything I had (Ifruuooo, ifrit server) mostly brd and pld gear. Idk if there is anything that can be done about it but it seems kinda coincidental.

I've got another account that I'm gonna use while my account is frozen. I will try to report this to a GM tonight but idk what they will/can do. Thoughts?

people are starting to get hacked with security tokens now, the default security token fall back doesn't mean as much as it once did

sorry to hear you got hacked make sure you also find out the source was it a keylogger ie from somepage thats what happened to me.there is a possibility that when u get rolled back u may lose some things that where gained after the rollback to date ie money xp etc.in my case my characters were moved to another server and stripped.and also as far as i know the characters linked to mine in dat period were looked into how far i dont know i was just happy to get it back although im more worth hacking now than then lol.anyway hope all goes well with it and keep getting on to customer service it may ltake less time than 3 weeks.although with the increased number of hackings it miay take longer now.

It is absolutely worth it to buy one. It is absolutely worth it to be running an internet client more secure than IE. It is absolutely worth it to have good antivirus software and run reglar scans. The moment I heard about these hackings I ran fresh scans, just to be safe. Security is additive; not using the security token makes you even more vulnerable.

Any vulnerability you can control for, you should be making an effort to lock down.

/sign. Ppl always say "My system will never get hacked" or "My PC is secure, because i'm an IT specialist!!!". Wake up, hacking even anti-virus-software is not as hard as you think theese days. God there are even Virus-editors out there that let's you make ur own virus per drag & drop wtf seriously >.<. The hackers will follow on every step of security-advancements, it is just a matter of time.

The only thing you can do is making their "i-spy-out-your-account"-life as hard as possible, so they just give up. Therefore, the security token is one of the bigger barriers hackers have to pass trough. You should get one. Nothing in the world will get you ultimate security, but making the job of hackers too easy is like simply giving them your data. The absolute minimum for a system is a secure browser, something that watches over your registry (Spybot just as a common example) and an anti-virus software.

Sry for your loss tho, hope it never happens again. I never got hacked but i can imagine the horrible pain >.<

You know we could always be rational, smart people, and just use Noscript/Adblocker and not be idiots with what we allow/download, then there would be no problems, at all.

I take it you don't work IT? Any electronic security system can be circumvented, given enough time and effort. It's just a question of whether it's worth the effort (hi2u 2048 bit encryption).

But tbh I had my share of viruses back in the days and every time was because I was checking questionable sites. So the day I decided to be more cautious about the sites I visited I haven't got a single virus.

The security token is like an extra lock on a door. While it won't completely keep someone out, it's going to make their job a bit harder. There's no real disadvantage to getting the token, especially since it effectively doubles your inventory space.
