R0ing on Login to FFXI.
Well it happened to me once earlier today... cuz i D/c'ed in woh gates quadboxin the worm by Kamihr Drifts and when i came back it did what u spoke about but only on the computer using windower ... so if you're using that.... try play the old school and sexy way ;P
I can't guess as to the multiple possible reasons (beyond ISP, or internal conflict, router issue, or blocked port issue, maybe) but I am reminded of this old thread...
http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/35397/i-cannot-stay-long-on-ffxi/#2165045 ...it discusses something similar. The solution for that user was actually the PlayOnline > Network Settings > (Enabled/Disable) Enable Connection setting, but the other possibilities (i.e. ISP/IP conflicts, wireless routers, router settings, blocked ports, etc.) are touched on. Hopefully you find a solution, also! I have the same issue, but it seems limited to certain zones. Foret And kamhir drifts. File check showed nothing, other zones are fine. It's lame. Reinstalling may be my next step if there isn't a fix after the update.
I just had a similar thing happen in Lower Jeuno, I zoned in and dc'd on the Downloading Data screen, logged in again, and dc'd same spot. But I was able to log into my mules and alt, so I tried my main again, logged in and touched the AH counter and r0'd. I'll try again, see if its a constant thing or not.
Edit: Yep, just took my mule there and stuck on zone. my wireless card drivers have issues when i use windows aero themes.as you have just installed they may be enabled.a friend of mine had the same issue with one of his drivers and aero theme.check it out just in case.
Most likely the culprit lies with your Nvidia Graphics Card and/or the drivers, particularly the 5 (which you have) and 6 series. You can google "ffxi nvidia crash" and see for yourself. Fortunately there's one or two things you can do.
On your computer click start > all programs > Playonline > FINAL FANTASY XI > FINAL FANTASY Config. At the FFXI Config window click Misc. and tick Graphics Stabilization to ON. Click OK and close it. SE added this feature because so many had the same problem you do. If that doesn't work then you'll need to downgrade your Nvidia driver to an older version. The newest driver versions have some compatibility issue with FFXI. If you do downgrade to an older version and that works, then you'll want to try un-ticking Graphics Stabilization. You want the best performance possible without playing FFXI like umm... Minecraft. can confirm that two PC both on the same network would crash at different areas. definitely SE sucking great balls.
