Well going to bed, the conference starts at 8am my time by the looks of things when I'll be getting ready for work, so I won't be watching it!

I started the live thread last minute, but someone on reddit offered to try some translations if they aren't caught up in work (they live in Japan). tl;dr hoping so, but no promises.

Someone had mentioned FFXI-2, might not be far off with that, it would fit with his vague description, and lay groundwork for holding onto the FFXI cashcow for another generation.

This would fit into their plans for the tweaked UI they've been planning and won't be putting on PS2. Maybe the press conference is a "sit down" for those stubborn PS2 players to placate them in light of the coming apocalypse.
All this speculation sounds like we are getting ready for a super bowl lol. What ever happens se will have my money willingly.
I'm in class until 4:10 (this all starts at 4pm). I can translate what is going on when I am able to watch if no one is doing that before I get on here..

It was said on the JP side of Playstation.com that repairs to the PS2 will no longer be in service by March 31st... so, it could be highly likely that PS2 support may be coming to an end.
Anyone expecting a one-two punch, bye-bye PS2 players and a server merge shortly thereafter, now after seeing that?

I doubt it's specifically for PS2 or server merge. It'll likely be some paradigm shift, expansion or game element changes with maybe somee PS2/server merge stuff sprinkled in.

Puzzle Soccer definitely sounds like a mobile title, an area that Square Enix has been getting involved in over the past few years. The publisher has plans for at least seven mobile games in 2015 alone, including three Final Fantasy spin-offs.
World of Assassination meanwhile sounds like an awful place to live. It could also be related to the Hitman series, which Square Enix publishes, although it’s a rather cartoon-y name for a pretty self-serious franchise. It might also be a term used in a game, rather than an actual title itself, perhaps for the upcoming mobile release Hitman: Sniper.
