book about an abusive relationship.
Actually this is what interested me, as a person with a strong tendency to get in abusive relationships.

But those quotes alone have killed any interest I may ever have for this. I just can't take this seriously anymore.
A great deal of relationships that are abusive are rooted in some form of codependency.
At their core, abusive relationships are some mix of physical+financial+emotional+sexual manipulation to maintain the status-quo (stay together) or assert+maintain dominance in favor of ending the relationship.

I have a truly unfortunate suspicion that many of the women who love this story do so because it's not so much an erotic fiction as much as a fantasized/idealized version of their own lives and situations.
The guy being rich somehow perversely romanticizes it for some women and makes it okay I guess!
There will always be stupid women that will put up with abusive relationships if the guy has money.
/shakes head

On the same note there is the flip side, men who put up with abusive relationships because they dont think they will every have another woman or sex since they have a bad self image.

speaking of image, paged. free food image.

Women may not be as overtly abusive as men but they've mastered that emotional and psychological manipulation well. It's socially acceptable even.

A man is fed up with his abusive wife and trains to kick her ***. Movie ends with her being dropkicked into a burning pit below.

It certainly happens.

But I don't see it nearly as often.

It probably happens more than you think.

To be honest, I was in an abusive relationship with my ex, but hindsight is 20-20. I didn't see it as abusive at the time....

Yeah, blame that on Beutler Ink, since they made the label.

The image was just a visual of the example of bad writing, and the 50 proof/50%alcvol added to the point.

Look its not my fault God chose finding my car keys over protecting those civilians currently besieged in Ukraine.

Maybe they're not special enough.

What I know about this film is that Lucy Hale was turned down for the role of female protagonist, which is too bad I would've watched her in erotic action!

She's really pretty.

But so much makeup in that picture makes it so hard to tell what she really looks like.

Not that it matters, I guess.

There were something like 12-20 main actors who turned down this film because of the reason it would be the end of their career.

I know it in name only.

Hey, I watched a lot of 90210 back in the day.

But that was almost entirely due to Tiffani Thiessen.

If Rocky and Bullwinkle didn't end Robert De Niro's career then these loser actors have no excuse.

Also, Fifty Shades is essentially cinematic blue balls. The credits should "go to PornHub you animals!"

Thing is, Robert DeNiro had a history of awesome movie roles in various types of films.

These loser actors don't have that kind of rapport.
