Altep Gate

I am trying to open Altep Gate. I went to the first switch, emerald column. And it says does not respond. anyone know why this would be the case?

Is it possible that it is already active? Since the columns are active until the gate is opened, it's possible that a few were triggered by random wanderers.

That the column is already active seems the more likely possibility.

You can check in front of altepa gate what switches are turned on. There are 4 columns with the 4 colors. Everytime you hit one, one of those columns withdraw, so check it before switch hunting.

I know this was posted a couple of years ago, but I'm having the same problem, and an hour of searching has not provided an answer. All four columns are up, and Altepa Gate won't open. I've done the run to the columns twice now, but when I click on them, I get "It does not respond."

Is there some quest/mission you need to do before they will drop the columns? I have the lodestone, I've finished Zilart, I'm rank 10, etc. etc.

All I want is Savage Blade. Sniff. Any help or ideas much appreciated. :)

Yes, the columns said "It does not respond," when I tried to click them. I thought maybe they were already activated so I made the trek to the gate.

It says "The door is locked." I looked up, and all four columns were up. So I repeated the above. Same thing. Columns didn't change, I don't think. Haven't tried logging out...I guess I could.

I've done that. I can open doors by myself. It's the gate I can't open.

I'm pretty sure you still need to go through the Altepa Gate to get to the Savage Blade NM...don't you?
