This is disgusting. And the fact that the people around them are condoning this, is even more disgusting. Maybe the father's family are all inbreds?

I "usually" turn down attractive people but I have slept with people I didn't find attractive. That's why I can understand why someone would sleep with a girl that he was certain he would never sleep with.

Between "desperation" and simply wanting to bust a nut, I find there are more reason to sleep with someone than not.

If we're just talking about sleeping with people we're strictly not attracted to, I mean. Purely physical, though, personality is a deal breaker for me.

Attractive people when they have the knowledge of their attractiveness will always have a little something in their attitude that is a huge turn off. It's not confidence, it's something else.

Whereas a girl that doesn't have this knowledge, whether she's attractive or not in general will have an attitude much more natural and honest.

Some people when they become rich do not keep it real. The same way, some people when they realize they're smart or pretty stop keeping it real.

Isn't there a biological mechanism with pheromones that encourages genetic variation by making family members repulsed by their own familial pheromones?
Wroooooooong!

Ignoring that humans don't really react to pheromones, anyhow, studies have shown that women are most attracted to the scent (i.e., the smell of their sweat) of men who closely resemble their father, from a genetic standpoint. I've not seen a similar study regarding men and their mothers, but I feel certain it would show similar data. We don't have Oedipus/Electra complexes just because psychologists are all perverts (they are, though).

This is, incidentally, one of the origins of the "inherently racist" soundbite that popped up in the media a couple years ago. We really do instinctively try to keep our genes tightly controlled.

Moreover, homo sapiens is one of the most genetically un-diverse species on the planet. Contrary to what people believe with regards to webbed toes and the like, incestuous coupling only has a marginally better chance than regular coupling to result in defects.

There is an interesting thing, though, a conditioned response that has nothing to do with genetics or "pheromones" (seriously, humans don't use pheromones, it's marketing bunk to sell cologne). People we're exposed to when we're very young and with whom we regularly interact almost never become an object of lust. Israel had (or still has? not sure) a communal system of raising children back in the mid-20th century and studies have shown that boys and girls who spent their early years there, say ages 2-6 or so, never marry. They may remain lifelong friends, but it stops pretty much there (I'm sure some of them had sex, but humans are apes -- we'll hump anything that moves given the right circumstances). This is, interestingly, the reason why Freud thought all boys have an Oedipus complex: he was raised by a nurse and rarely saw his mother when he was young, so he never learned the instinctual revulsion most kids have towards their parents.

That may be what happened in this case. Or this girl could be seriously screwed up, because Oedipus/Electra complexes do happen in people who were raised by their parents. I know that in my state, though, they'd be subject to criminal prosecution simply because their "relationship" began when she was under 18. And there's no way this could not be interpreted as abusive, both on the age count and the close relation incest count.

Some studies have shown that women seem to prefer
the odours of immunocompatible men. Wedekind et al.
[46] HLA-typed (Human Leukocyte Antigen is the
human MHC) 49 women and 44 men and asked the
women to rate the attractiveness of the odours of t-shirts
worn by three MHC-similar and three MHC-dissimilar
men. Women rated the odour of the MHC-dissimilar men
as ‘more pleasant’, and this odour was significantly more
likely to remind them of their own mate’s odour.
Interestingly, the preferences of women taking an oral
contraceptive were reversed—they preferred the MHC-
similar odours. This could be due to the fact that oral
contraceptives mimic the effects of pregnancy, and
pregnant females may be attracted to MHC-similar
individuals who are likely to be close kin and potential
reproductive helpers.
In a similar study, Thornhill and Gangstad [47]
measured bilateral physical traits in males and females
and then asked the volunteers to wear the same T-shirt for
two consecutive nights. Opposite-sex participants then
rated the shirts for ‘pleasantness’, ‘sexiness’ and
‘intensity’; donor’s facial attractiveness was also
assessed by different opposite-sex volunteers. Non-pill
users in the fertile phase of their menstrual cycle gave the
T-shirts worn by symmetrical males higher ratings; this
was not seen in females using the contraceptive pill, or in
females at unfertile phases of their cycle. Female
symmetry had no influence on male ratings. The authors
proposed that the so-called ‘scent of symmetry’ is an
honest indicator of male genetic quality.
In a real-life study of actual mate choices, Ober et al.
[48] found evidence for HLA-dependent mate prefer-
ences in a population of Hutterites (a small, genetically
isolated religious sect). They found that couples were less
likely to share MHC haplotypes than chance, and in
couples that had a similar MHC they demonstrated
unusually long inter-birth intervals (unconscious avoid-
ance of inbreeding?).
Milinski and Wedekind [49] HLA-typed males and
females and then asked them to smell 36 scents
commonly used in perfume/aftershave. They rated each
scent on whether they liked it or not, and whether they
would use it on themselves. The authors reported a
significant correlation between HLA and scent scoring
for themselves but not for others, showing the people
unconsciously select perfumes to enhance their own body
odours that reveal their genetic make-up.

Since this is the most idiotic story ever reported, I'm just going to post a blueberry pancake recipe.

Ingredients:
1 1/4 all-purpose flour
1 1/4 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
1/2 cup frozen blueberries, thawed

1) Large bowl sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar.
2) Small bowl mix egg, and milk

Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve
hot.

For the whole incest in general is bad because of the children; i would like to point out that a relationship or marriage does not mean you have to have kids.

(i know in this particular case she said she wants to, but in general theory, no two ppl together HAVE to have kids.)

i don't think you need science to draw a conclusion there

most men also find women with money attractive, unless they're comfortable with their finances and view it as threatening

"Oh no not inside, don't ***, you will put a baby inside me." "Well then this hole will have to do."

pretty much every incest+anal hentai has these two lines.

Yeah a lot of "Fing my sister / mom / dad / etc is OK" going on in this thread some people may need counseling.

Problems with the interview:

Her mom has been with the current stepdad for 10 years, but her brother from the previous union is 9 years younger than her (9 years old).

She dated a boy in the heroin-shooting fifth grade for two years.

The boy she dated had drunken sex with another girl and got her pregnant, and so she told him to support her (fifth grade, how?). However, the girl fell asleep with a cigarette in her mouth and burned down her house, then left town with the baby. -- She's either HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE and he had the worst breakup excuse ever or she's crazy.

She's also bisexual and has a totally stereotypical relationship with a religiously conservative girl.

She had a really good first time.

Her <5 year old sister supposedly slept on the top bunk and comforted her when she was feeling down.

tl;dr: I basically think she's lying. They should have attempted to contact her alleged father.

I guess you didn't read the linked articles in the OP. The interview this thread was started around was specifically with regard to situations exactly like that.

Ah, gotcha.

Hormones are scary things. And people are scary things. And people are ruled by hormones, so that's scary-squared.

Hormones = scary
people = scary
equals scary squared, what does that make it when people succumb to fear and irrationality?

Fear is a hormonal response, so I'm not sure that it changes the equation. Irrationality is too fluid a concept, but certainly acts as a multiplier at a minimum.
