I get this feeling that the intelligence presented in this thread is about to plummet since it seems people can't distinguish between the two.

Oh well.

Bring on the common cold vaccines then!
There may be a difference, but it is still being anti-vax.

A square is still a rectangle.

It's also a quadrahedron and a rhombus. ^^

Good point that you bring in math. The math doesn't not work in favor of flu vaccinations to the point where it's not considered a vaccine in practice.

It's almost like deciding to become gluten free because that's the trend rather than being allergic.

Disneyland Measles Outbreak Highlights The Importance Of Vaccines - HuffPo (so our right wing friends, no mater what their views on vaccanition can ignore it.)

Quote:
Viruses flourish in high-density areas and vacation spots where large numbers of visitors coming together, bringing their unique colonies of pathogens. So it shouldn't be particularly surprising that an outbreak of measles has been tracked back to December visits to Disneyland in Orange County, Calif.

A total of 17 confirmed cases of measles originated with visits to the theme park, confirmed the California Department of Public Health....

17 cases in a year in an area that sees about 40k people per day....

I guess we all must go ballistic then. You have a .0000001% chance of contracting measles in Disneyland, we must shut the place down and burn it to the ground, we got an epidemic there!!!!

Vaccines were important well before this article came out. This article did nothing towards spreading awareness of measles, it just took a hot topic and profited off of stupid people who read that rag.

I might be the only one who thinks this but getting the measles isn't necessarily a bad thing. Once you get it, your body has built up its immune system to fight the infection, and you can't get measles again. (paraphrased)

http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/measles/basics/prevention/con-20019675

Just take precautions if you do get it and don't risk others, let it run its course.

That's literally how a vaccine works. It exposes your immune system to a neutered or dead form of the virus which teaches it how to make antibodies for it. Why would you willingly contract and endure a disease when you can boost your immune system without compromising your health?

And I did mention several times before I started making fonewear-esque posts.

Although some are still serious.
