Expected someone to have mentioned Opeth or Mastodon, but those are more on the metal end of the spectrum as opposed to some of what has been posted. Opeth has stuff for everrrrryone, though, example being:

I second this motion! Opeth = much love.
One of my personal favourites. :3 I....didnt..really..like it either....Im not a music critic though, I just wanted to turn it off. It sounds like every other Jpop/hairmetally band Ive heard.
My brothers a large Muse fan. Ive not heard all their songs but the only one Ive ever really cared for from what Ive heard is the one that made them "famous" I guess...or atleast it was the first time Id ever heard of them. Sounds more modern rock-ish then what I usually see from them. The one Celene posted isnt one Ive heard lol, I think I could like that if I listened to it a few more times. Its catchy. --- My other favorite band (next to Tool and A Perfect circle) is Hurt and I pimp them in like every music thread. Thats a great combination of great music and emotional vocals. I can have volumes 1 and 2 on repeat for hours when Im painting. Shiva.Nightraid

Opeth is Awesome!
Espcially since Porcupine tree's steve wilson Directed an Album! Seeign as you like folk/Fantasy Celene maybe you will also like this, not a very popular band i wish they was: Came in here to say Opeth lol. Screw you guys!...with love!

lol, Opeth was really quite a hard sell when I first got into them after being mostly exclusive to 2-4minute punk rock tunez. Recalled that after seeing Celene's 10m+ marathon. xD I almost feel bad saying "Damnation" is probably my favorite album of theirs, but between the album and the live performances it's too distinct and individual not to love. lol
Also, Nightraid, don't shoot me but "My Homeland" totally reminds me of a male-based Nightwish? Mainly the sick keys and epic vox. haha It's Fairyland, I'm pretty sure.

Celene said: Also, if you enjoy symphonic metal, I'd check out Raphsody/Raphsody of Fire Not bad, i didnt find it was catchy as Fairylands style though >.< You dont happen to like Children of Bodom do you? :< Yeah, they are decent.
I personally like their stuff prior to "Are You Dead Yet?", but it's not too bad of an album. I actually haven't heard anything off their "Blooddrunk" album, so duno what they're like now. Celene said: Also, if people enjoy a Celtic taste: Their earlier works are folk metal, but they recently came out with an acoustic album. It's worth a listen, if you enjoy the genre. Interesting, I like it, what language is that? Celene said: Also, if you enjoy symphonic metal, I'd check out Raphsody/Raphsody of Fire I've been hearing them a lot recently on pandora.com, been meaning to look them up because I've liked what I've heard. It is Gaulish. It's a dead Celtic language. It's really interesting to hear, as I am 1/4th Belgian, and it's a language they spoke in.

yay a reason to post this. :3
seeing as how i've seen Dream Theater and Rhapsody mentioned, i might as well throw in Sonata Arctica. one of my favorite bands along with Before The Dawn. i think both of those are worth a listen. i'll post vids later when i'm not posting from my phone at work.

golden Oldie:
Here's some good metal. Hope you have nice speakers and a sub to get the full effect. Other good bands are Mushroomhead, Nightwish, and of course, Slayer. If you dont like the words or screaming of some of the bands, at least listen to the music and hear the ingenuity of these bands
Quote: I am looking for better music. Help me find better than this. Good lord. That was painful to listen to. Already lots of youtube embedding spam, so I'll spare you the lag and just make some links to some of my favorite songs:
A Perfect Circle - Judith Brand New - The Archer's Bows Are Broken Deftones - Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away) Lacuna Coil - Spellbound Lostprophets - Shinobi Vs. Dragon Ninja Muse - Hysteria Puscifer - The Mission Radiohead - Paranoid Android Red Hot Chili Peppers - Breaking The Girl Rise Against - Swing Life Away Smashing Pumpkins - Mayonaise Thrice - Music Box Tool - Parabol/Parabola Zero 7 - Destiny I apologize for the long list. One of the first things you'll learn about me is I like just about anything and have a very wide range of tastes. I would add many more, but there are far too many to count and post all at once. If you're interested in any of the 5000+ songs I have please feel free to IM me. Well based on the OP comment, i see that they have already been suggested but i think dream theatre may be what your looking for, i really like DT i think some of their stuff is pure genious but sometimes the singer makes it a little too gay, personal favourites u should check out are, mainly things already mentioned, Tool, Opeth, Devintownsend and i also love Radiohead (who i am seeing in a couple of weeks!) and muse was a good reccomendation for you.
FFXIAH's music taste pleases me greatly and should please you too if u give it the time.
