TL;DR no amount of signatures from westerners will stop a war that is rooted on religion from many moons ago. Yup, signatures are nothing but an utopia in nearly 100% of the international issues.
For the simple reason that if a state can push a war/decimation, he'll do it, because he can. And if he cannot, he won't do it and will then hide behind the signatures, "we listen to our people".
It's a win/win situation for any state in general and is the basic of state lie, but there are still people to fall for it even in 2014.
People are dying. The greater majority of them are women, children and innocent non-combatant men. They are people. If the media has dehumanized and vilified them to the extent that you can feel no empathy for them, you yourself are beyond help and no use to anyone around you. Your heart is dead, your brain is blind and deaf. You are not human. Media, internet, violence has been on TV and other mediums all our lives.
Sure we'll be shocked when people pull a new stunt (9/11) but we won't be when it's the usual war taking place at the usual spot (Irak etc).
But, overall, we are sheltered. We all live in West countries with "wealth" and overall security. We don't have to fear any country attacking us or whatever else, war isn't a realistic thing for us.
Some of us on these forums do/did live in bad areas, such as ghettos and what not, and have seen death from their own eyes. These people will most likely understand and feel what this situation brings.
For the other people, who have suffered and all I'm sure, if death isn't part of your every day life, I don't think it's possible to grasp the situation at hand.
I'm personally an in-between. That's why I'm really annoyed when people die for no reason, at all. Dying is fine if it has a purpose, or if you simply have reached the end of the road, but seeing that ambulance getting bombed is the kind of death that cannot be justified.
Let those people see this war as nothing but a long distance GTA or their favourite Call of Duty, whatever really. We've been going for nearly 90 pages, you would think that by now, with all the explanations and arguments, they would understand.
These people think in a specific way, you will not make them understand "your" reality (not only yours, it's an objective universal reality in this case), but it's fine, really.
Just remember: none of us here has an impact. You can believe what you want, they can believe what they want. At the end of the day, there is no impact either way, we are all pissing on a violin.

So Chaos, what is the currency of this country "known" as "Palestine?" what is it's GDP, any other facts about it? oh wait, that's right, it doesn't exist.
It's not a place, on this planet in this reality anyway. Winner of the most idiotic statement yet.
Troll on my friend.
He's got a point, Taiwan isn't a real place either. At least to 20% of the global population. Not my point, the entire place was Israel, they gave them that section to self govern, it's called Gaza or the Gaza strip, not Palestine. There's still "Palestinian" territory (claimed anyway) in Israel itself, we don't call it Palestine either.
It's not a matter of recognition but that it really doesn't exist.
Surely you see the paradox in your statement. The land obviously exists, there's people squatting on it, we just don't recognize it, so it is a matter of recognition. I still stand by my analogy of Taiwan. I think the issue is the same, but the scales are just shifted against the territory of Palestine.

I won't be posting here anymore on this topic. The reason is the level of ignorance, apathy and disregard for human life communicated by some members offends and disgusts me. I am further offended by the complete blindness and inability of some to see the truth. When faced with it, they respond with sarcastic remarks, mockery and "come-backs".
But then again, I wasn't expecting much to start with.
Why did I post at all?
Just like you I have no immediate interest in seeing the Palestinian/Israeli situation resolved. Its not going to effect my income. I live a very comfortable life, what might be referred to in the US as a "1 Percent'er". I thank God for blessing me.
I do however, on and off, play FFXI. So we share that much as common ground.
I believe if everyone on this planet tried to communicate the truth about Palestine within their social circles, the situation would improve. Furthermore, and most importantly, I posted here because I see an oppressed and brutally occupied people, and know that my creator will ask me what I did or didn't do about it.
As powerless as I feel to aid the Palestinians in their cause, I couldn't use that as an excuse to do nothing.
So I've done what I can, and tried to raise awareness about the truth. I've tried to present examples of the atrocities perpetrated against these noblest of human beings, who have resisted a modern army supplied with the world's deadliest weapons and technology, an army that shows them no mercy, and a world that has turned their back on them. A people who have for decades stood proud and fought back, despite overwhelming odds.
Countless of them are dead, and those of them that are alive and survive carry with them memories of their lost kin.
How many mothers have seen their children torn away from them by death, and then suffered the defamation of their memory.
How many of them have been referred to by some of you here, as terrorists.
And yet, these people carry on.. carry on fighting.. carry on resisting...Just as you carry on refusing to see the truth, closing your eyes, and sticking to the reality that was programmed for you.
If just one person came away from this thread with at least a bit of doubt about the situation, that causes them to at the very least re-examine what they think they know, I will be happy.
But I think that is perhaps too much to ask. Such is our sorry state.
I have done what I can for the Palestinians. I have asked you all to re-examine the situation on your own. To research the subject and to start caring. To stop being apathetic and dismissive of human life.
I have informed you.
EDIT: A parting gift, for those that wish to understand Islam, this man speaks for me. If you are interested, or curious you might want to listen to his lectures.

For example, Literally has officially been changed in meaning to reflect how people use it incorrectly. So every time a politician says Obama is Literally a Communist Nazi (Communazi?)... Palestine is recognized by the majority of UN member states.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_recognition_of_the_State_of_Palestine#
It also has non-member observer status in the UN. This, iirc, allowed them to bring several charges against Israel via the UN (International Criminal Court).
They have $12 billon~ GDP annually.

That could be said for pretty much anything.
The international criminal court was created by the treaty of rome and where war criminals are tried. Where WWII criminals were and are still tried.
Anyways. The majority of the worlds population 80%+ recognize Palestine as a state.

Quote: Israel said it would unilaterally hold fire in most of the Gaza Strip on Monday to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and allow some of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced by an almost four-week-old war to go back to home.
The announcement, made first to Palestinian media, met with suspicion from Gaza's dominant Hamas Islamists and followed unusually strong censure from Washington at the apparent Israeli shelling on Sunday of a U.N.-run shelter that killed 10 people.
An Israeli defense official said the ceasefire, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, would apply everywhere but areas of the southern town of Rafah where ground forces have intensified assaults after three soldiers died in a Hamas ambush there on Friday.
"If the truce is breached, the military will return fire during the declared duration of the truce," the official said.
The official said east Rafah was the only urban area in which troops and tanks were still present, having been withdrawn or redeployed near Gaza's border with Israel over the weekend.
Israel is winding down its offensive in the absence of a mediated disengagement deal with Hamas. It says the military is close to completing its main objective of destroying cross-border infiltration tunnels from Gaza and prepared to resume strikes in response to any future attacks by the Palestinians. Censured over shelter deaths, Israel declares seven-hour Gaza truce

Both parties aren't equally at fault, that's a ludicrous assertion.
You're right the 2009 UN report said Israel was more at fault.
sure you can. they're not the ones using civilians as shields
Israel used the same excuse back in 2009 conflict; UN investigator said it wasn't true.
Only way for this to stop; is for Israel to stop descrimination toward non jew there and allow people to buy land/home since they won't remove the settlement that cause issue and then I'm sure everyone there will be against those rocket and help stopping/finding them.
People using rocket are wrong, but the people descriminating non jew and making new settlement are wrong too.
Edit: About current conflict:

I strongly disagree with using rocket too, but outside of not having any other choice, I cannot believe someone would use rocket against a enemy that is that much stronger than you.

I strongly disagree with using rocket too, but outside of not having any other choice, I cannot believe someone would use rocket against a enemy that is that much stronger than you.
They have... no choice. Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, that's it.

What would you do against a stronger enemy that doesn't care about UN resolution, that keep adding new unlawfull settlement according to the same UN?
