I completely stay away from anything but the corn in those situations...the other things in the pot that soak up the seasonings gets the extreme version of the potency the crawfish do. Its horrible when you bite into something you suppose wasnt going to be as hot as the firey pits of hell..and then you get proven ENTIRELY wrong.

There are about 100 other things that are certainly better in Cajun seasoning. I know, because I've probably eaten all of them at some point or another.
I don't do mushrooms.

i once thought old bay made everything better but then i tried the jonathan ogden old bay cheese curls.
It was pretty good. My friend thought I was nuts for trying it. It was quite spicy. Almost too spicy.

Hard shell, I'm pretty sure. At least the ones I had. Though any recipe I've seen is a major pain in the *** (and probably the hands, because cleaning hardshell blue crabs always results in puncture wounds or cuts in my experience).
But basically you clean them out leaving as much meat in the cavity as possible and then use meat from other bits or smaller crabs, mix it with crackers and celery and whatnot, cram that sucker full of the stuffing and cook again.

Have you seen people fumble around trying to kill a crab before they cook it?
Also, cooking them live (straight into boiling water so they die instantly) is the best way to preserve their freshness.
