I heard Lucy and Transcendence were both terrible but I havn't seen either yet. Hercules was surprisingly "decent" though. I dont take movie opinions from common folk lately...after the Twilight generation i highly doubt anything people say. Cause everyone is the harshest movie critic ever and never satisfied with anything. Enuyasha said: » Bahamut.Soraishin said: » Enuyasha said: » Bahamut.Soraishin said: » Was Transcendence any good? I can see how most people didn't like Transcendence as most people don't even know what points they're playing at in the movie with Singularity and what not so i'm still gonna watch that one myself. As for Lucy, I just wanna see Scarlet >.< Bismarck.Bloodrose said: » Enuyasha said: » Bahamut.Soraishin said: » Enuyasha said: » Bahamut.Soraishin said: » Was Transcendence any good? YouTube Video Placeholder I watched Chef last night and in my honest opinion it's one of the best movies i've seen all year. Has an all-star cast and very funny. I highly recommend watching it.

As for Lucy, I just wanna see Scarlet >.< Lucy was just stupid, stupid stupid stupid. Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman were their usual great selves, but the story itself was ridiculous and utterly pointless. I was hoping for another Fifth Element, but Luc Besson dropped the ball. Bahamut.Soraishin said: » I'm still convinced Mel Gibson is the best actor to ever live so don't feel so bad. Mel Gibson is a great actor. His off-screen antics, ramblings and beliefs cause many to turn on him, but he's always been a great actor. Johnny Depp is a great actor as well. If we really have to have a "greatest ever" discussion I'm going to go with some older guys, though. Christopher Lee comes to mind. Others including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Kenneth Branagh, Jeremy Irons; John Belushi, Chevy Chase, and Steve Martin, and Gene Wilder get props too. Sometimes people don't give comedians the proper credit in these "greatest ever" talks, but they do more for us entertainment-wise than many of the "serious" actors. Edit: And, specifically, actors that insist on trying to "go serious" to "validate" their careers sort of piss me off. Tom Hanks and Jim Carey, for instance, have made some decent "serious" movies...but they have almost completely left behind greatness in other venues, wich is sad to me. And Eddie Murphey has straight-up betrayed himself at this point, I don't care how he tries to justify it. Granted, he gets piles of money for doing essentially whatever movies he wants, so in that vein I won't necessarily judge him...but c'mon, man. Go back to what made you great. True, John Leguizamo is a great actor/comedian himself as well. Always enjoyed his movies. Offline

Best movie ever ?:
YouTube Video Placeholder Oh. Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton. Though the later, I admit, is because the man essentially starred in my childhood between Batman, Beetlejuice, The Paper, The Dream Team, etc.
I think that Tom Hanks's "serious movies" were much better than his comedies.
Have you ever seen "Saving Mr. Banks"? fonewear said: » Best movie ever ?: YouTube Video Placeholder Asura.Kingnobody said: » I think that Tom Hanks's "serious movies" were much better than his comedies. I have yet to see that one, but Captain Philips was great (Although it was one of those nichey "LETS PROFIT OFF A NEWS STORY!" movies) and all of his non- comedy movies arent totally bad. Asura.Kingnobody said: » I think that Tom Hanks's "serious movies" were much better than his comedies. Have you ever seen "Saving Mr. Banks"? There isn't a single character he's ever played that will top Detective Pep Streebek. Not. One. Edit: To answer your question, no. Edit2: P.L. Travers despised her interaction with Disney, so I can't imagine the movie goes very well. Edit3: He's done some marvellous serious movies, don't get me wrong. Forest Gump was good, Apollo 13 was great, The Green Mile is really good. I want to see Road to Perdition some day, but I never seem to get around to it. But...The Burbs, Dragnet...no way he's ever topping those. Never seen Dragnet Movie tbh.

If it actually paints Disney in the appropriate light, it could be worth a watch. P.L. Travers detested what Disney did to the original stories of great classical stories, designed to teach people moral lessons, among other things, such as ripping people off, and the general way he conducted business.
It was in this particular case, that Disney seemed to royally kiss *** for the rights to tell the story of Mary Poppins. Which, by the way, was a great film, that co-starred *** Van Dyke. Same with Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Is it appropriate that we keep coming back to Disney in this thread, the wonderous anti-semite that he was?

I despise Dumb and Dumber. There are a lot of reasons for that though, not all of them having to do with the actors or movie itself. Social situations come into play. And the amount of friends I have that go apeshit for that movie. It's like catnip for drummers or something, I don't know. But I've seen it so many times on bus trips that I took to put headphones on, listening to Slayer and not acknowledging the world until it was over. Ace Ventura is a masterpiece.
YouTube Video Placeholder I miss this kind of stuff. Valefor.Sehachan said: » Ace Ventura is a masterpiece. Yes Man was also a pretty good Jim Carey movie.
There are some legitimate complaints to elements in the films he's starred in. Adam Sandler has done some pretty awesome movies, and some really terrible ones. Bismarck.Bloodrose said: » Adam Sandler has done some pretty awesome movies, and some really terrible ones. All his movies are *** terrible. But sometimes, *** terrible movies are necessary in life. And some of his *** terrible movies are magnanimously wonderful for it. Billy Madison has to be my favorite, followed by Happy Gilmore. For me, Super Troopers remains the gold standard of movies that just ridiculous, but amazing for it.
Have you not seen Funny People or 8 Crazy Nights?
Legitimately horrible, but again, wonderful for the absolute horridness of them. Like he trolled the movie industry hard, and they fell for it. |
