How so?

This is the age where people are telling their kids that they are all special little people and all sorts of ***. That fits right into #1.

The mainstream media keeps propping up reports by the Medicare/Social Security Trust fund directors stating that "everything is good" and ignoring 3rd party reports stating that "everything is not good." There's #2 for you.

Faith is attacked on this website, by the liberal crowd daily, so there's #3.

The same liberal crowd here defends the government at the same time, so there's #4.

For #5, see #3.

Heck, for #6, see #4.

Damn, for #7, #1 fits in right there.

The little article that Chaos reported pretty much summed up what is being told and demonstrated by liberals.

The answer lies in the definition of a strawman fallacy. Are you really going to make me spell out what that is?

If your defense is "well, this specific person didn't say that," then you would have a point.

I have a point because this person's blog has essentially chummed up HALF the political spectrum, fit it into a narrow world-view that is strictly interpreted by themselves, and touted it as their "opponent's" argument. It is a massive strawman, filled with inaccurate information, and it's honestly beneath me to even consider it anything more than drivel. Not because of its stance, but because of its quality and content.

#1. What generation are we talking about here? Not 20-30 somethings, that's for sure; if anything, 20-30s were the ones raised inside this paradigm of thought, meaning it was the generation BEFORE us that had that ideology of parenting. The previous generations always lament the newer generation. If this is talking about the kids currently in school, then there's not sufficient information to really parse how it's affected them. And sorry, this isn't an explicitly liberal ideology, it's not even a democratic ideology. It's a cultural thing. And there is so much that goes into raising children, and each teaching strategy is modified by so many different variables, that it's incredibly hard to discount a practice as wrong, unless it is demonstratively so.

#2. I've never once heard this. I've been told over and over and over again that it'd be gone well before I reached the age for it. And who's at fault? The government.

#3. The Democratic party still upholds religion as a tenant. So do many liberals. This point is honestly a crock of ***. There is a current backlash against religion, that much is true, but that's a trend around the world. This is just a case of some guys' Christian persecution complex.

#4. Government is your friend is an authoritarian stance, which means it could be associated with the Democratic party, as they have authoritarian views... but guess what, so does most of the Republican party, despite the fact that they say they want small government. At the end of the day though, there are Democrats on the Libertarian side, and Republicans too. However, neither of them represent liberal OR conservative directly. That is only a single gradient of a larger position. Anyone quoting Ayn Rand is scary as *** though.

#5. What the *** is this ***? Who in their right mind has said "Check your morality at the door."? A deterioration of marriage? I wonder what he's referring to here...

#6. Again, an authoritarian, and naive point of view. This argument is so thin, a wet paper bag would tear through it like the Hulk. I'm going to stress this again, it can't be considered "Liberal" if it applies to only one subsection, and even then, who believes politicians are out for your well-being? Seriously, show of hands.

#7. This is probably the only PARTIALLY correct thing, and it's just the title. It's not that the world owes you a living, it's the goal of progress to create a world where everyone's needs can be met.

This isn't an "article," it's some guys' rant on his blog, and it's terrible. It shows no desire to engage, only vilify. It fails to meet an objective stand-point, and it knocks its own standing out from under it. This is no one's stand point, this is no one's argument for a better world; this is a giant *** strawman used to flatten and simplify half a spectrum of ideology - to ratify the idea of black and white, because black and white is easier. All you have to do is Other anyone who disagrees with you.

No, that's not what that phrase means. Both current definition and its original definition don't specifically have anything to do with health care.

No, no. Leave Lunk alone. I'm sure Canada would be just fine without all of the medical advancements made by the U.S. in the last century since they're so much better than us.

How dare you speak ill of my beloved Huff Post.

HuffPo was moderate at one point, but it's becoming more mindless zealot lefty over-time. The "Gay Voices" is complete trash now. Nothing but radical LGBT *** now. I'm just waiting for HuffPo Gay Voices to suggest Madonna or Britney Spears as the new democrat nominee for 2016.

Don't forget these advancements are only for the millionaires. For the average person they are available if A) You sell your house for it or B) wait until the year 2123 when flying cars and growing new organs will be as common as a cell phone is today.

All of the medical advancements in the past century from the U.S. are only for millionaires? Man, I'd better save up those millions of dollars I'll need for a polio vaccine then.

medical advancements get thrown into 2 categories in most people's minds: old stuff everyone gets and new stuff only the rich get. It's easy to forget that the vast majority of modern medicine is available to the masses.

Most of the historically devastating diseases were all but extinct before most people living were even born.

This. Is. Awesome.

While it's hilarious that it's actually real, it reminds me of "just say no".

What's wrong with either? I mean "Just say no" worked on me until i was about 16. you don't think this has zero effect on teens and tweens reading it right?

That twitter account is a fake, there aren't really people going around saying ***like that.

It is being made by a nobody comedian who is attempting to create satire to advance his name from a nobody into an idiot.

I can read just fine, but you're a bigger fool than we take you for if you think that there isn't people who say ***like that for real, hence why it's a good parody.

Sorry, I've even lost track of what the hell you two are arguing about between two threads, but that made me think of this.
