Offhand, common core is the latest one. I'm also not sure how common core leads to this. It sets certain goals. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with making sure everyone gets their feels tended to or anything like that.
also, the program has been adopted by both democratic and republican states and has met feirce criticism in recent years over its effectiveness.
If anything, Common-Core seems to do the opposite. It's efficacy is hard to quantify, though, as it's only employed as a structure, not a curriculum. So, every district that deploys it is a different ball of wax.
Oh come on...nobody knows what common core even is...
Mostly it's just an architecture to standardize education methodology, and most of the hate comes from misunderstanding it's purpose and focusing on individual curriculums or the admittedly unconventional math. Our public education system needs a massive overall, because our rankings are pathetic for a nation with the kind of wealth and ambition of America.

It was actually post-grad work, mostly correspondence classes.

My hate of it comes from the fact that the people most frequently misunderstanding it are the ones dictating the curriculums.
And yeah, it's math is...problematic.

There's a lot of reasons for this; foremost is probably that people can't agree on what the reforms should actually be. Then you get into things like tax rates, and teacher unions, and class sizes, and dozens of other details that take what's already a snail of a process (gaining consensus) and gumming up the works even further.

From your posts I find that hard to believe, flip flopping opinions is not a sign of self awareness.

Most places don't let opaque private interests dictate public policy. When Australia banned guns, it was epically unpopular, especially among the arms industry.

I've done no such thing. I have merely provided my opinions and defended them from being ***on by other posters.
I dunno why you think flip flopping and that have anything in common unless you are just trying to ***on me?

Ugh, let's not even get into Common Core. It sucks and everyone knows it sucks. It's a big 'ol government Band-Aid that wasn't even applied in the right spot.

I dunno why you think flip flopping and that have anything in common unless you are just trying to ***on me? Your opinion that liberalism is the core problem at everything that is wrong with everything? I mean if you call defending that opinion by dumping on someone else and screaming liberalism louder then I guess so... but you literally just come in and ***on other posters and cry liberalism and [+] stuff that says feels.
You've been given the opportunity to cite what liberal policies you hold responsible for stuff like this and you instead chose to keep your bash on remo policy up... don't get me wrong it's a lot of fun to bash on remo mcfeely but lets be honest that's not really defending your opinion.
flip flopping on what exactly. it helps to actually explain what you think people are flip flopping on.

Friendly(?) neighborhood mod here to remind you:
If you use the report function, I look at the whole context. You should probably refrain from chucking barbs at people right before you report that a post is harassing you, because that's going to make me dismiss your complaint. Reap what you sow, etc.

I don't always use the report button but I always do it after I insult the person I'm going to report.

It's a perfect example of how centralized authority and one size fits all planning are massive failures. education in california should be planned by people in california and people in DC should have nothing to do with it, let alone be able to force feed everyone in the country what they think is best.

I mean, sure, we bicker about real world politics, but that's as far as we get dabbling in reality around here.
Random Politics & Religion is for topics that aren't thread worthy on their own and do not have their own existing thread.
Rules and Guidelines
Forum Rules and P&R Section Guidelines still apply.
Satire is tolerated.
If your topic covers a story over 6 months old (Watergate, Benghazi, 2012 Election, etc.) post it here.
Discussions on racism, homophobia, transphobia, and the like are allowed, targeted insults based on these will not be tolerated.
Political debates get heated and are meant to be intense, if you take offense to being called or proven wrong, you don't belong here.
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen; if you prove you can't handle the criticism you bring upon yourself in this thread, you may be removed from it. You are responsible for what you post.
Along those lines, heat is fine, but sustained, clearly personal hostility is not okay. The personal attack rules still apply. Attack positions, not posters. Failure to adhere to this will result in your removal from the thread.
This thread is NOT the Flame Core.
These rules are subject to change and modification where and when needed.
Random Politics & Religion may be mained or demained depending on the activity within at a Moderator's discretion.
