It remains to be seen if his sexual orientation is relevant to the story.

You're declaration that it doesn't is nothing more than a reflection of your ideology, not reality.
So, you are doubling down on the "He crashed a train because he was gay" concept?

You're just not understanding my point. You're either willfully ignorant, or just plain old stupid.

What point? That a journalist should include irrelevant information in an article because... reasons?

Sorry Sparthosx I can only bang my head against the wall in vain for three people per topic per day. You need to seek out either Pleebo, Milamber or Ramyrez for this topic. I think I might have an opening in the MGTOW topic though.

You should try edging out Ramyrez, he's a pretty big fanboy.
My god... P&R is becoming an episode of As the World Turns! Quick someone start selling this show to soap makers.

I love the smell of P&R in the morning

Get ready for another government shutdown championed by your local Tea Party representatives liberal faction of the government, but blamed on the Tea Party anyway.

Unclear as to why the Tea Party wants to increase spending.
Ceiling cap on the defense department is still there, they just want to put $90B in the war fund.

Until they cut spending across the board in every category I'm not even going to think about buying into their rhetoric of smaller government and less spending. As it stands, all I see smaller government and less spending where it's convenient for them and their major financial backers.
Do you really want to tell the soldiers that due to your political ideals, instead of guns they are given bows and arrows, and instead of body armor, they are given pink ballerina dresses?

Defense budgeting is a hard thing to decrease because there are a lot of money going towards the training and survival of our soldiers, who, because of inept presidents in the past and present, created a "US World Police" mentality that we have to oblige with.

So the White House only cares about closing Gitmo when they no longer have majority power in Congress? That's convenient.

Hey, anything to make Republicans look bad. Remember, even though ACA passed with zero Republican votes, it's a Republican championed and conceived plan.

Don't bang the patriotism drum with me.

There is so much waste in military spending it's nearly inconceivable. Projects being funded that have gone nowhere. Programs being funded that the Pentagon has advised shouldn't be, but for some reasons politicians think they know better and keep finding them. So many examples like this.

All of this could be fixed, spending cut, and our soldiers would be just as well, if not better, supplied. Cut these ***programs and you could cut spending and STILL get more for them.

It's as much about corruption and pork barreling from BOTH parties as anything else.

Edit: For instance, from FOX, of all places!

Army says no to more tanks, but Congress insists

Demand that for every government agency there is, and not just the Department of the Defense.

I'm not going to deny that there is waste in the DoD, in fact, I can probably point at more waste than you can shake a stick at.

But until we all start demanding spending cuts in all departments and not just the ones we don't like, then you will not hear much argument on me against the level of spending by the DoD. Except for the wasteful spending.

More to the point, we should be discussing what constitutes "wasteful".

For the record, when it comes to the IRS and the EITCs, I'm with you.

Oprah is fine too.

EWTN -- If you weren't clear.

Quote:
The Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) is an American television network which presents around-the-clock Catholic-themed programming. It was founded by Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation**, PCPA in 1980 and began broadcasting on August 15, 1981,[citation needed] from a garage studio at the Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Irondale, Alabama, which Mother Angelica founded in 1962.[citation needed] She hosted her own show, Mother Angelica Live until suffering a major stroke and other health issues in September 2001.[1] Repeats now air as either the Best of Mother Angelica Live or Mother Angelica Live Classics. She now leads a cloistered life at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.

**AKA: The Eyepatch Nun.

More to the point, we should be discussing what constitutes "wasteful".

For the record, when it comes to the IRS and the EITCs, I'm with you.
Wasteful spending examples:

Creating a training video that doesn't teach anything but instead spoofs "Star Trek"

Flying people to conferences regarding either GAAP seminars or GAAP related continuing professional education courses.

Paying $60k per conference for agents to neither attend nor speak at.

Creating a flagging system where addresses used for certain refundable credits are mailed to, but do not use said system.

Spending $60 billion in bonuses for federal top-level employees but closing down help centers and call centers for the public

Implementing a system where publicly traded companies file with the SEC but still requires the SEC filings to be handed to agents upon request (even though this information is public knowledge and the agents already are supposed to have reviewed such documents prior to any investigations).

Auditing high-income taxpayers and receiving less per audit than spent. In most cases these audits are done without any significant reason or question regarding why these audits are happening in the first place

Creating call centers and not man them.

These help some? This is all coming from only one agency, not even a full department.
