Um... the article included the full clip. "Source material", we call it!

Did you read past the headline? The guy is specifically saying that his orientation wasn't a factor.

“Now I am not saying, I am not inferring to those of you that are gay rights activists and like to monitor this show, I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay, but I do think it’s an interesting part of the story and you can bet it would be edited out,”

Like I really don't know how it could be any clearer.

However it was apparently edited out of the reporting of the accident? Cause reasons....

I guess we can put "more", "plausible" and "explanation" on the list of words pleebo doesn't understand.

Watch that right wing Pleebo!
The woman (reading comprehension ftw) claims she's not saying it's a factor then goes on to say it could be a factor. It's pretty funny. I figured we'd all just get a good laugh out of it. Not that anyone would want to defend her.

Why? What the *** does it have to do with anything?

The same way the media immediately reports the party affiliation of republican scandals in the first paragraph but buries democratic affiliation in the 1Xth paragraph. The same way they jump to tie bad things to conservative / tea party causes and bury things tied to liberal causes.

Maybe the guy is a radical political activist and his politics somehow contributed to the crash. Can't have that if it's against the liberal narrative, so lets start burying everything liberal about the guy.

Why do you even bother posting an article from there if it wasn't to troll certain posters, like Nausi?

Seriously, can't you even see that you are instigating this argument? You are bad as flower head posting from infowars saying vaccines/fluoride is bad and starting an argument because of it.

Yes, maybe.

Maybe he's from the future and zipping that train at high speeds at that exact time was the only way to breach the spacetime continuum and get back home.

Except, I'm not defending the rag that published this, I'm speaking directly to what that person said.

Why was it even brought up? Clearly they're implying it's an issue, if they weren't, they wouldn't bring it up.

So 1) they're lying right off the bat and trying to imply something while saying they're not and 2) it doesn't have any bearing on the incident.

But whatever. There's always someone trying to blame something on their enemy ideology rather than the direct or indirect cause of a thing.

For instance, sometimes, it's racist and abuse of power when a redneck cop shoots a black man, and sometimes the black man actually is a criminal that put the officer in the position where shooting him was in the public's best interest.

But I'd love to hear how being gay could even remotely be a factor here outside of him being uncomfortable with his own nature and mentally disturbed over it, in which case it's really not the homosexuality that's the problem, it was his fragile psych and poor judgment.

It's probably more along the lines of:
A: Hey, someone said stupid thing X!
B: It isn't stupid, they really said that it wasn't X, but that you wouldn't hear people talking about X.
A: Except they did say X.
C: And why would it even matter if it was X?

I might as well write a script and just input random news articles into it, and see how well it matches.

What Liberals don't want you to know:

The train was weighed down by too many gay people. Yeah, I know it's not politically correct but they don't pay me to mince words here.

She's not flagging him as "gay", she's more flagging the fact that he's a gay activist and the media isn't highlighting that in the reporting.

(Other outlets have noticed he's been present at a few gay marriage rallies)

Why is this important? Well it certainly could be because if he's a radical political activist and had some kind of chip on his shoulder. By scrubbing out the "gay" they're scrubbing out the "activist".

She doesn't say he's an activist. She pre-emptively tries to counter gay activists who may be listening or reading what she says.

She just says, "...I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay, but I do think it’s an interesting part of the story..."

Why is it interesting? Because she can maybe blame it on an agenda she doesn't like?

What does sexual orientation have to do with a *** train crash. There's nothing 'interesting' unless you're on a fishing expedition for an agenda. Stop being HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE people. Your brains deserve more than this.

It's like if you read a story about police brutality and suddenly in the article the journalist decides to mention that the victim enjoys strawberry ice cream on warm summer days. And btw he got his skull bashed in with a baton.

It's 'interesting'!

Hey, maybe the agenda she doesn't like has something to do with it. Maybe he was too busy posting in ffxiah on his phone about gay marriage to avoid crashing the train.

There's no reason to hide his orientation, it is part of the factual record of the incident. It's not hate speech to report that a violent crime was committed by a black man, or a car accident was committed by an asian woman, or that 20 islamic terrorists flew a jetliner into the world trade center.

Maybe gay people (as a group) frequently engage in risky behavior more than strait people (I.E. drug use). Maybe that's relevant too.

Pointing it out, like pointing out black people as a group are more inclined to violent crime, is not the same as saying "being born black makes you violent" or "he crashed the train because he was gay".

Taking AMTRAK is risky behavior? Jeez I know some people think commuter rail sucks but that's just uncalled for. They're just chronically late and cost equal/more than flying.

Next up: Germanwings co-pilots great grandfather might have been 23.3% gay. It didn't contribute to his descendants crippling depression leading to a mass suicide into a mountainside but *** you, i felt like saying it anyway.

Stretch a little harder.

Until they start stating that the most recent drunk driver to kill someone in an accident was a "straight white male who just got done drinking himself into oblivion after beating the ***out of his wife a few hours ago" on the police blotter...

I took an Amtrack once, for the equivalent of a 3 hour drive. It only took us 11 hours :D
Never once took a train in the US. The public transportation systems here suck worse than Lewinsky at Bill's lodge.

Until they actually implement a working system (aka Japanese public transportation system), I don't think I will ever use PTS here.

Factual, perhaps, but not relevant.
As Sparthosx pointed out, it may also be factual that they enjoyed moonlight walks on the beach and had a Mickey Mouse collection. Just not relevant.

Texas bill to hinder gay marriage dies in statehouse

Quote:
Republican-backed legislation to put new blockades on same-sex marriage in Texas died in the statehouse on Friday after failing to win approval by a midnight deadline amid stalling tactics by the Democratic minority.

The bill, called the "Preservation of Sovereignty and Marriage Act," would block clerk's offices in the state's 254 counties from using tax money to issue licenses for same-sex weddings in the most-populous Republican-controlled U.S. state.

Socially conservative backers have said the measure allows the state to exert its rights regarding marriage. The bill's demise comes as the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to decide next month whether same-sex marriage will be legal nationwide.

Its sponsor, Republican Cecil Bell, told reporters he was angry at the way it was defeated and will still push for the rights of Texas to block same-sex marriage.

"I don’t believe that standing up for sovereignty is a partisan issue," he was quoted as saying by the Dallas Morning News.

Critics applauded the move that halted what they said was a deplorable and divisive bill.

"Bad actors will continue to push their discrimination legislation, including as amendments to other bills, until the final gavel. So we’re not letting our guard down now," said Kathy Miller, president, of the left-leaning advocacy group Texas Freedom Network.

About a decade ago, Texas voters approved a state constitutional amendment that only allows marriage between a man and a woman. Current Republican leaders have said they will fight to enforce the ban on same-sex marriage.

The bi-annual Texas legislative session ends in about two weeks. All bills, except the budget, that did not pass in the Texas House of Representatives before Friday are not allowed to proceed.

Before gay marriage became legal in the liberal northeastern state of Massachusetts in 2004, it was not permitted in any state. Now it is legal in 37 states and Washington.

So, yay Texas?

TBH, I don't really care if they legalize it or not here, it doesn't effect me one bit.
