Clear (aka Sprint) Internet offered me 4 years of service with no problems either, so they are more evil than Comcast!
Yet you can't get that service anymore, at least not unlimited. nope Sprint bought them out and shut it down.

Also: Comcast is the only broadband in many areas, whether or not you want to accept that is purely up to you.

You know, for a company that was bought and shut down, they certainly still provide me the same level of service for the same value, and still allows you to manage your service.

Just because they are no longer selling new products doesn't mean that they are no longer providing service. So, try again.

Never said that they didn't keep the old service running, however it will once the equipment becomes obsolete, it's a shame too, because they're the only company (that I'm aware of) that produced a 3/4G capable modem device that had a rj-45 to connect to a regular home router.

Oh and: so try again.

You know, when somebody says "bought them out and shut them down" it usually means, you know, they stop providing the service. That's what "shutting down" means.

I guess for you, it means "still provide services even though they are not taking new customers" which for everyone else, it doesn't mean that they were "shut down"

An extended timetable to prevent lawsuits, and to transition the customers over to Sprint plans is shutting down in most books, I guess not yours, I apologize.

Kinda makes me wish I didn't have Sprint, but they're basically the only ones left with unlimited data anymore, so whatevs.

I've said it countless times. I have little complaint about my services through Comcast that I can say are their fault (there was a time period where they were throttling me but it appears that has subsided, apropos to federal action or otherwise I'm not sure).

My main complaint is simply there their (edit: one of these days I'm going to stop typing faster than my brain decides on the right homonym to use) costs, and I can (and will) probably get that lowered soon by going through the customer service song and dance.

Hell, even when I get ahold of their stateside customer support they're pretty good. One of them even told me flat-out with honesty that yes, there were throttling me and it wasn't my own hardware.

Pffh. I love Chrome. Firefox is okay, but it always seems to have too much security, or not enough at all. Fiddling with all those settings gets irritating every time I go to a new site.

Ipso facto we arrive at Firefox: the #1 browser for porn!

And KN, you'll be thrilled to know that I've considered a lot of things in the past 24 hours and while I don't like many aspects of the things we've discussed, I do accept the reality of them.

It's really been a long ~48 hours or so for me and it's not over yet.

So maybe expect some mindless rage at something silly sometime soon. But on yesterday's topics of business and fiscal operations I'll certainly conceed a point or two as necessary, if not the most stomachable.

I guess I should take what I can get. At least I'm glad that you are finally accepting other people's knowledge.

In case you haven't noticed, I haven't been posting much about various topics I'm not affluent with (main case would be global warming), but when it comes to businesses, tax, and government, I can say that I know more about these topics than anyone else in this forum. Which is why I'm so adamant about my posts regarding them.

I would think if it's a choice between Gamestop or Walmart, people would take the easier of the two choices (Gamestop).

I would rather work at Wal Mart if given the choice the idea of talking to gamer nerds all day would drive me nuts.

I like video games don't get me wrong but I have a limit to how much I care.

Let's just say I don't like "gamers" but I enjoy games.

I use Palemoon, it's security is higher than that of Firefox (at least it doesn't allow certain things by default), but honestly never had to fiddle with ***before that, except for the standard security cert bypass.

Or are you talking about the plugins? yeah I stopped using noscript because it got on my nerves, but I almost never have to touch adblock.

Mostly because at least with Gamestop you're working with more people who are like you and who like what you like.

I never chose to work there because I hate the forcing things on people (gamer's clubs, magazines, whatever). And the pay and hours was similar to where I already was at Walmart.

I've rarely questioned your knowledge, just your assertion that because you're on the up-and-up, everyone else is too in the business world.

I think there's room for improvement in most facets of things that wouldn't harm the bottom line, and some places even do those things, so I guess I just live in hope more places do them eventually.

A mince of words, however for all effective purposes (except legacy customers) it's shut down, you can't get new service, end of story.

It's all a matter of perspective, and as you're one of the few that it's not "shut down" for, you consider it not, while for everyone else, it is.

Noscript is the big one.

I haven't used it as my primary browser in a long time though (about two computers now, so approximately 4 years) so I'm not really sure how other plugins or security for it hold up.

I use AVG on both my PC and laptop as far as security goes.

AVG blows, aside from that: noscript is optional, and not an inherit part of firefox, so it's really a moot point (even more so when there's similar plugins for chrome).

Best security: knowing what to and not to click on.

I cannot say for certain that there aren't unethical people in business. But I can say for certain that there aren't many unethical people in business.

You cannot believe how easy it is to find bad business practices, just by reviewing their annual reports. And because of SOX Act, those annual reports have to be as accurate as humanly possible, with no material errors, and if there is any, not only is the company liable, but the CPA firm who attests on the financials and the officers themselves can be held liable and very possibly can have criminal charges brought to them.

Expect you haven't really heard of any corporate fraud (Knight Investments was the last known case of corporate fraud, and that was back in 2008) in recent years.

I'm never going to deny humans being humans, but I trust businesses a whole lot more than government in terms of ethical behavior and moral standards. Mostly because of the legal ramifications associated with it.

Should have been in effect a long time ago, but I guess better late than never.

To be honest, I didn't know that this practice was going on. I figured that there were state charters preventing this practice, but if the FCC is involved, then that should take care of that, hopefully.

Now, is that practice still going on? What happened in the past doesn't matter if the present is different.

Mmmm. I can say that GE Fanuc, in my experience, has a history of buying companies with competing products, and shutting those product lines down in favor of its own. A notable (if not terribly recent) case would be with SBS Technologies.

Fraudulent (or unlawful) behavior is not the only type of unethical behavior. The GM ignition switch and lack of recall for such an extended time is a good example, off the top of my head.

In the fashion you're speaking I agree with you, at least to a point.

Employee treatment, relations, and compensation is my biggest gripe. Many of those are readily fixable if our country would adopt the employment compensation (benefits, that is) standards of some other civilized countries.

There is also Mil's example.

But within the scope of what you're discussing, I'm sure you're right the majority of the time.
