There was a point in my life where I wondered why Jesus didn't apply JRPG logic to problems.
People are bad? Why can't we save them all? Why can't we go straight into Hell and defeat Satan the wellspring of all evil and save everyones souls?
(Besides, Hell will have some great BGM and Satan? The Latin choir is just chomping at the bit for an epic boss battle.)

I know "music appreciation" isn't exactly a big thing around here, but during those years where music either had to be religious or you were sentenced to hard labor or drinking poison, Verdi already wrote the music you're looking for.
His Requiem makes SE look bad for giving that name to such a crappy set of bard songs.

I get what you are saying. I think that, given SE's want to create a song that does damage to a mob, giving Requiems that ability suits that need because those songs are supposed to institute sadness in the listener, causing emotional trauma and anguish.
A more appropriate use of the Requiem would be a debuff like def down or attack down (or a little of both), however.

The bigger takeaway is that if you haven't heard Tuba Mirum from the aforementioned Requiem, you should look it up right now.
