The scotus BS? Yep, no idea what you are talking about, certainly don't remember saying anything wrong and definitely don't remember you proving anything since there is next to nothing that can be proven in that situation. Obama is going to appoint someone and the Senate is going to embarrass itself.

Bernie is hardly bought. Also, his record against trade deals like NAFTA and TPP is worth acknowledging. Here's some of his history against those deals, which is ripe for analysis whether you're for, against, or on the fence. He has been in politics for practically all his adult life and accomplished nothing. Not one of his bills has ever been passed, that in itself is an achievement though, I guess.
Not even remotely true. The majority of his works have been amendments to existing bills, or have been amended under someone else's name. I managed to dig up a list of bills and amendments (disregarding stuff like renaming post offices) that he sponsored:
Authorize grants or contracts to operate population-based, statewide cancer registries in order to collect certain data for each form of in-situ and invasive cancer except basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma of the skin. Authorizes grants for planning the registries. Mandates a study on factors contributing to elevated rates of breast cancer mortality in Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia. Authorizes the Secretary of Health and Human Services, directly or through grants and contracts, or both, to provide technical assistance to the States in the establishment and operation of statewide registries. H.R.4206 (Cancer Registries Amendment Act) enacted as S. 3312 (Cancer Registries Amendment Act).
Require offenders who are convicted of fraud and other white collar crime to give appropriate notice to victims and other persons in cases where there are multiple victims eligible to receive restitution. H.Amdt. 98 to H.R. 665 (Victims of Justice Act of 1995)

H.Amdt. 1203 to H.R. 3666 Departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act, 1997
Congress consents to the Vermont-New Hampshire Interstate Public Water Supply Compact to erect and maintain joint public water supply facilities. H.J.Res.129 enacted as S.J.Res.38 (A joint resolution granting the consent of Congress to the Vermont-New Hampshire Interstate Public Water Supply Compact)

H.Amdt.174 to H.R.1757 (Foreign Affairs Reform and Restructuring Act of 1998)

Amendment increases funding for the National Guard Starbase program by $2 million. Funding for the increase would be offset by reducing funds comensurately from the NATO Joint Stars program. H.Amdt.289 to H.R.2266 (Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 1998)
Prohibit funds for the U.S. Customs Office from being used to allow the importation into the U.S. any material mined, produced, or manufactured by forced or indentured child labor. H.Amdt.368 to H.R.2378 (Treasury and General Government Appropriations Act, 1998)

Encourage lower higher education costs by giving the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education -- which administers a competitive grant program for higher education institutions -- a broader mission and allow it to make competitive grants available to institutions that cooperate and reduce costs through the joint purchase of goods and services. H.Amdt.569 to H.R.6 (Higher Education Amendments of 1998)
Reduce the intelligence budget for fiscal year 1999 by 5% with an exemption for the CIA Retirement and Disability Fund. H.Amdt.614 to H.R.3694 (Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1999)

Note that this does not include bills he co-sponsored and other achievements. If you really want, I can dig up those kinds of things.
While I agree with his assessments of all the problems our country faces I disagree with every single one of his solutions. That's fair.
I seriously worry for you if you can't comprehend why it's bad. Tell me why it is a bad thing being pro-american and wanting a secure border? Especially in the times we live in. It depends how you define "pro-American" and "secure" border. The way Trump defines them are what's instigating the hostility, whether from his supporters or opponents.

Not even remotely true. The majority of his works have been amendments to existing bills, or have been amended under someone else's name. I managed to dig up a list of bills and amendments (disregarding stuff like renaming post offices) that he sponsored:
Are any of those an actual bill that he himself wrote and it passed? If so then I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
It depends how you define "pro-American" and "secure" border. That's the problem, everyone defines it differently. Normally to suit their agenda.

Wouldn't expect much, if Trump can't even define his foreign policy don't expect his supporters to be able to. The funniest thing is, Clinton could actually be attacked on foreign policy, but not by Trump, the guy is clueless and she will eat him alive.

Are any of those an actual bill that he himself wrote and it passed? If so then I'm wrong, but I don't think so. All but one of his original notable bills have since been amended over the years. The one that hasn't been amended is rather new:
Directs the Secretary of the VA to increase, as of December 1, 2013, the rates of veterans' disability compensation, additional compensation for dependents, the clothing allowance for certain disabled veterans, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children. Back on point, your claim that he "accomplished nothing" is irrefutably wrong.
edit: You should look over some of those bills, at least the descriptions. Veteran benefits and more effective use of tax dollars are regular themes. Factor in his position against trade deals and how they are the largely responsible for outsourcing of jobs. You've got a guy who is 1) extremely skilled and experienced at the political process, 2) fighting for things that many conservatives hold in high regard, and 3) can't be bought. I can understand if you don't want him for president, but I'm having a hard time imagining why anyone would not approve of him as a senator.

Here's some of his history against those deals, which is ripe for analysis whether you're for, against, or on the fence. You know, for a group of people to call Trump a xenophobe, you just provided a perfect example of one. Sanders would stop all trade with every other country if given the chance. That's a classic case of a xenophobe in today's global society....
I stand by my choice though, since I'm confident his policies would be a net gain Care to give examples as to why you think that?
I also believe he's the most likely to hold himself accountable for possible failures and actually address them. His whole ideology is a probable (not possible, it will happen) failure. And yet, he keeps trucking through it.
France is a perfect example of the closest thing to socialism this world has seen. How are they doing again? Oh right, economic growth is negative, overall wealth is negative, overall social welfare is stagnate. Seems like it's working to me!

We are currently slaughtering ISIS after having nearly wiped out Al-Qaeda ISIS did more damage to Al-Qaeda than the US did under Obama's leadership. Unless you want to call creating ISIS a good thing....
Obama's sanctions sent Russia into a deep recession The sanctions on Russia is only against Russia's elite, not to the country at whole. We do not have an embargo of any goods to the general population....
the citizens are starving You seem so happy for the suffering of people. And liberals are considered the "tolerate" group of people (except towards everyone else, it seems)....
we didn't even have to do anything and Russia has been set back by a decade And you are claiming victory for that? Russia's problems were created by Russian policy, not American. Stop claiming victory over nothing done....
China is in a huge recession Their bubble burst. It happens, nothing America has done to burst it. Sure, we may have helped create their economic bubble with trade, but we certainly didn't burst it. China did.
the dollar is as strong as its ever been And I'm sure in your eyes, Obama had everything to do with it.
there are no viable threats to the US, at all. Except for ISIS, Al Qaeda, North Korea, Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders. No threats at all!

Are you copying altima's response style now? Pretty sure ISIS hasn't killed nearly as many Al-Qaeda operatives as the US has in the last 7 years, while ISIS has killed how many US soldiers? ..Less than 10? ..Less than 5? Its as one-sided a war as you can get, probably the most primitive military group we have ever fought.
The Western sanctions had a devastating affect on the Russian currency, right now its 70:1, its been as low as 85:1. Before Putin's idiocy is was around 25:1. Obama's restraint of military use, which the GOP was clamoring for, has worked just fine. Russia is in a recession that is going to last at least 3 years. Yes, its a victory for Obama, one that the next couple of Presidents will appreciate.
Nothing about whats going on in China has to do with an anti-American foreign policy. We helped facilitate their recession but for the most part they did do it to themselves, as you say.
How is North Korea a threat to us again? Really? What, are you afraid of their "missile program?" The same one that we can detect as soon as the missile is in the air, plot its trajectory, and determine whether or not its a threat to us, in less than a minute? They are no more a threat to us than ISIS or whats left of Al-Qaeda. And these are just simple talking points that I am reciting, you guys can't even counter them.

2) ... Trump is not a nazi, nor is he literally Hitler. However, the things he says and proposes do lean to what one could describe as fascist, totalitarian or draconian....
You are insulting dragons.

Not to be a ***, but if you look at the people at the Trump rallies, they look like those people in movies and TV shows that play hateful, racist, bigoted characters. It seems he has the everyday-looking people sit behind him in camera view, the rest look like hillbillies.
Aside from that, I read an article or blog post or some such by a Bernie supporter who went to a Trump rally, not to protest, but to see what it was all about and apparently Trump simply makes blaket statements ("we're going to make America great again") but gives no explanation as to how and appears to simply repeat the stuff that he knows gets a cheer and his supporters aren't smart enough to pick up on that.
The blog post went on to say that they expected a few laughs but it turned out to be really scary. These supporters seem to believe Trump will make illegal immigrants 'disappear' as one woman in the crowd shouted.

I'll shove some UK politics in here again.
It is expected in the new budget statement on Wednesday that the Tories will be going ahead with cuts to Disability Living Allowance and at the same time will be raising the threshold people will start paying the 40% tax rate (currently £31,786), therefore paying for tax cuts to higher earners through cuts to benefits for the disabled.
Gotta love the Conservatives.

Random Politics & Religion is for topics that aren't thread worthy on their own and do not have their own existing thread.
Rules and Guidelines
Forum Rules and P&R Section Guidelines still apply.
Satire is tolerated.
If your topic covers a story over 6 months old (Watergate, Benghazi, 2012 Election, etc.) post it here.
Discussions on racism, homophobia, transphobia, and the like are allowed, targeted insults based on these will not be tolerated.
Political debates get heated and are meant to be intense, if you take offense to being called or proven wrong, you don't belong here.
If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen; if you prove you can't handle the criticism you bring upon yourself in this thread, you may be removed from it. You are responsible for what you post.
Along those lines, heat is fine, but sustained, clearly personal hostility is not okay. The personal attack rules still apply. Attack positions, not posters. Failure to adhere to this will result in your removal from the thread.
This thread is NOT the Flame Core.
These rules are subject to change and modification where and when needed.
Random Politics & Religion may be mained or demained depending on the activity within at a Moderator's discretion.
With that out of the way, let the debates begin!
