Odd, no outrage over the female teacher convicted of sexual assault on her males students.

I may have to watch the actual video and compare it to the reversed situation where they have a guy in fat suit doing the same thing.
Who said there's no outrage?

She's going to prison. I say she didn't get enough time. She has a criminal record and is a registered sex offender which means she will no longer be able to teach children ever again. It's disgusting and she's being punished as she should.

What would you like us to do to show the proper outrage you require?

I still need to watch the video too. Not showing up when I'm here and I rarely ever get on when I leave soo... I may need the cliff notes again.

For the low price of $9.98, teen girls can be stripped of any personal ambition and reduced to their eventual title of "wife."

At least, that's the message one might glean from a T-shirt that reads "TRAINING TO BE BATMAN'S Wife." It is currently on sale at Walmart and sold out on Amazon.

The shirt's overt sexism has caused outrage among parents, DC Comics fans, Twitter users and Amazon reviewers. On Jezebel, a writer who goes by "Eldritch" analyzes the problems with the shirt, starting with the first word on it. "What does 'training' mean here, anyway? Training to be thin enough, pretty enough for the likes of Bruce Wayne? Or perhaps training on how to cook and clean for the caped crusader?" she asks.

The Daily Dot's Gavia Baker-Whitelaw then highlights the absurdity of the rest of the message: "When a 12-year-old wants to buy Batman merchandise, it’s generally not because she’s impressed by Bruce Wayne’s eligible bachelor status."

By insinuating that girls aspire to marry "superheroes," DC Comics seems to miss the very important fact that young girls want to -- and should -- see themselves as superheroes. Baker-Whitelaw points out that other DC Entertainment-licensed shirts have been guilty of the same poor taste. In April, Avengers fans petitioned shirts that told boys to "Be a Hero" and girls to "Need a Hero."

A former top official in North Korea has claimed the secretive state's dictator Kim Jong Un "is no longer in control," amid a flurry of speculation and conspiracy theories about where the Dear Leader actually is.

North Korea's authoritarian leader has made no public appearances for three weeks, skipping a high-profile event he usually attends. An official documentary showed him limping and overweight and mentioned his "discomfort." What has followed has been a smorgasbord of media speculation about what's eating Kim Jong Un.

Maybe it's gout, unidentified sources told South Korean reporters - or diabetes, or high blood pressure. A thinly sourced British report said the Swiss-educated dictator has been laid low by a massive cheese addiction. A headline in Seoul offers up the possibility of a common South Korean obsession: fried chicken and beer.

So what's going on? Maybe not much.

As is always the case, much more than what's seen publicly is happening behind the well-guarded scenes with North Korea's Number 1.

But just the fact that Pyongyang acknowledges that the Dear Leader is ailing suggests that he may not be suffering from anything particularly serious.

The hugely micromanaged state media, for instance, were tight-lipped when Kim's father, Kim Jong Il, suffered major health problems late in his rule.

The intense outside fascination with even scraps of information creates a scramble in South Korea and the West to play up any hint of change or turmoil in a country notorious for resisting outside prodding and for releasing information only as it sees fit.

But now, a former top counterintelligence official in North Korea, has claimed that a powerful group of officials that once reported only to Kim Jong-il, have stopped taking orders from his son.

North Korea's Organisation and Guidance Department (OGD), has "effectively taken control of the country," Jang Jin-sung told Vice News, hinting at a civil war playing out behind the scenes.

"On one hand, it's people who want to maintain a regime monopoly," Jang said. "On the other hand, it's not like people are fighting against the regime, but in a policy sense they want to take advantage to get influence. It's not actually consciously civil war, but there are these two incompatible forces at play."

Rumours of a coup are unconfirmed, a US State Department spokeswoman told reporters Monday, but Jang told Vice that since 2013 Kim Jong-un has "only serving as a puppet leader with officials from the OGD pulling the strings."

Go 'Murica! #1 in violence, preparations for violence, and conflicts around the world. Everything else, not so good, lol.

Quote:
American politicians are fond of telling their audiences that the United States is the greatest country in the world. Is there any evidence for this claim?

Well, yes. When it comes to violence and preparations for violence, the United States is, indeed, No. 1. In 2013, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the U.S. government accounted for 37 percent of world military expenditures, putting it far ahead of all other nations. (The two closest competitors, China and Russia, accounted for 11 percent and 5 percent respectively.) From 2004 to 2013, the United States was also the No. 1 weapons exporter in the world. Moreover, given the U.S. government's almost unbroken series of wars and acts of military intervention since 1941, it also seems likely that it surpasses all rivals when it comes to international violence.

This record is paralleled on the domestic front, where the United States has more guns and gun deaths than any other country. A study released in late 2013 reported that the United States had 88 guns for every 100 people, and 40 gun-related deaths for every 400,000 people―more than any of the 27 economically developed countries studied. By contrast, in Britain there were 6 guns per 100 people and 1 gun-related death per 400,000 people.

Yet, in a great many other areas, the United States is not No. 1 at all.

Take education. In late 2013, the Program for International Student Assessment released a ranking of how 15-year old students from 65 nations performed on its tests. It showed that U.S. students ranked 17th in reading and 21st in math. An international survey a bit earlier that year by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development found that the ranking was roughly the same among American adults. In 2014, Pearson, a multinational educational company, placed the United States 20th in the world in "educational attainment" ― well behind Poland and Slovakia.

American health care and health fare even worse. In a 2014 study of health care (including infant mortality, healthy life expectancy, and mortality from preventable conditions) in 11 advanced industrial countries, the Commonwealth Fund concluded that the United States ranked last among them. According to the World Health Organization, the U.S. health care system ranks 37th in the world. Other studies reach somewhat different conclusions, but all are very unflattering to the United States, as are studies of American health. The United States, for example, has one of the world's worst cancer rates (the seventh highest), and life expectancy is declining compared to other nations. An article in the Washington Post in late 2013 reported that the United States ranked 26th among nations in life expectancy, and that the average American lifespan had fallen a year behind the international average.

And what about the environment? Specialists at Yale University have developed a highly sophisticated Environmental Performance Index to examine the behavior of nations. In the area of protection of human health from environmental harm, their 2014 index placed the United States 35th in health impacts, 36th in water and sanitation, and 38th in air quality. In the other area studied―protection of ecosystems―the United States ranked 32nd in water resources, 49th in climate and energy, 86th in biodiversity and habitat, 96th in fisheries, 107th in forests, and 109th in agriculture.

These and other areas of interest are dealt with by the Social Progress Index, which was developed by Michael Porter, an eminent professor of business (and Republican) at Harvard. According to Porter and his team, in 2014 the United States ranked 23rd in access to information and communications, 24th in nutrition and basic medical care, 31st in personal safety, 34th in water and sanitation, 39th in access to basic knowledge, 69th in ecosystem sustainability, and 70th in health and wellness.

Poverty, especially among children, remains a disgrace in one of the world's wealthiest nations. A 2013 report by the United Nations Children's Fund noted that, of the 35 economically advanced countries that had been studied, only Romania had a higher percentage of children living in poverty than did the United States.

Of course, the United States is not locked into these dismal rankings and the sad situation they reveal about the health, education, and welfare of its citizens. It could do much better if its vast wealth, resources, and technology were utilized differently than they are at present. Ultimately, it's a matter of priorities. When most U.S. government discretionary spending goes for war and preparations for war, it should come as no surprise that the United States emerges No. 1 among nations in the capacity for violence and falls far behind other nations in providing for the well-being of its people.

Americans might want to keep this in mind as their nation embarks upon yet another costly military crusade.
The United States Is Number 1 -- But in What?

Two-Thirds Of America's Biggest Retailers Are Worried About Flat Wages

Quote:
It's not just middle-class America that is feeling the crunch of dismal wages and stubborn unemployment levels. Even the corporations that sign the paychecks say workers aren't making enough money.

Sixty-eight percent of the top 100 retail companies in the U.S. -- a group that includes, Walmart, Apple, McDonald's and J.C. Penney -- say the country's stagnant wages pose a major threat to their bottom lines, according to a new report by the Center For American Progress, a left-leaning think tank.

Researchers analyzed the most recent SEC 10-K filings of the largest 100 retailers in the country and found that more than two-thirds of these corporations issued warnings to investors that profits could be hampered by flat wages, high unemployment and low consumer spending. The trend is hammering companies that target high-income customers, like Whole Foods and Dillard's, and those that market to low-income shoppers, like Dollar General and T.J. Maxx, according to the report.
There is an easy way to cure this guys. Give your workers a living wage rather than tips on how to get government assistance.

Boy Who Shot Albino Deer With Crossbow Receives Death Threats, Family Says

My comment: A 12 point? At 11 years old? With a crossbow? Way to go kid! The color is easily a +2.

For the record I took my deer at 12, 20 gauge, rifled slug, pronghorn. I have never had a permit since.

I can say I have never been skunked deer hunting. Its true.

Time to get angry at the evil 1% for people's stupid decisions!

"Operation" Gamemaker can't afford his operation

Quote:
John Spinello earned a small spot in pop culture history 50 years ago when he invented Operation, the battery-powered game that lets kids play surgeon.

But now, the 77-year-old Illinois man needs $25,000 in oral surgery and can't afford to pay for it, having sold the rights to his creation for just $500.

Spinello says he's not bitter and prefers to not focus on the healthcare crisis.

"Look, everyone needs medical care," Spinello told HuffPost Weird News. "I prefer not to dwell on that aspect and focus more on the joy that the game has brought to so many over the years."

To help him out, a couple of toy designer friends are trying to help him raise $25,000 for anticipated bills via a crowdfunding campaign at Crowdrise.com.

The campaign had raised more than $1,300 by Monday morning, mostly from toy industry insiders. A sister website, ILoveOperation.com, is selling copies of Operation personally signed by Spinello.

In addition, Spinello is planning a December auction of his original game prototype, hoping to raise at least another $35,000, according to toy designer Tim Walsh, who is organizing the fundraiser along with fellow designer Peggy Brown.

Spinello invented Operation while he was an industrial design student at the University of Illinois. The Bloomington resident was tasked to come up with an electric game where the object was to insert a metal wand into holes without touching the metal edges of the openings.

"I got an A," Spinello said.

A family friend was so impressed that he helped Spinello get a meeting with Marvin Glass, a leading toy designer who gave the world novelty products like fake vomit and wind-up chattering teeth. He was also the force behind such classics as Mouse Trap and Lite Brite.

"I walked into his office and I put it on his desk. I said, 'You have to take this probe and go through the maze and see if you can complete it,'" Spinello explains in a video about the campaign.

Glass didn't seem impressed until he touched the wand to the metal plate.

"It went 'BLATTT' and a spark jumped out of the stylus," Spinello said. "He threw [the stylus] up in the air and says, 'I love it! I love it!'"

Glass offered the young college student $500 -- about $3,771 in 2014 dollars -- and the promise of a job upon graduation in exchange for all the rights to the game.

But the job offer didn't happen.

"I did get the two checks -- eventually," Spinello said. "I had to call for them."

Walsh says Spinello is not bitter about the lack of royalties, though he estimates the game has generated at least $40 million in sales since its 1965 debut.

By the early 1970s, the game was heavily advertised on TV, and has made several comebacks over the years, with a "Shrek" edition in 2004, followed by "Simpsons" and "Spider-Man" versions.

Spinello's daughter has an extensive collection of Operation memorabilia that celebrates the game's history.

"John celebrates the game wherever he can, though his kids do give him a hard time in a good-natured way," Walsh told HuffPost.

Spinello is not broke, but a warehouse company he ran went under in 2008, and times have been tough since then.

Walsh says Hasbro, the gamemaker that owns the rights to Operation, has supported the campaign by allowing the fundraising team to use promotional images for fundraising purposes. In addition, he suspects the company may be very interested in purchasing Spinello's prototype

Even if the campaign doesn't reach its intended goal, Walsh hopes it raises awareness of Spinello's place in toy history.

"We were at a toy convention a few years back and so many people acted like Wayne and Garth [from "Wayne's World"] meeting Aerosmith," Walsh said. "He got a few 'we're not worthys.'"

So, should we get angry for other's stupid mistakes?

What about this story?

Quote:
When Maryanne Saunders took her 3-year-old granddaughter into a public restroom in the town of Dawlish in England, she was shocked to see what she claims was a man dressed as Tigger having sex with a naked woman.

The alleged incident happened Oct. 28 and Saunders said when she and the child entered the bathroom, the costumed man and his partner were having "full blown sex," according to the Exeter Express and Echo newspaper.

Saunders reported the incident to the Dawlish Neighborhood Police via their Facebook page.

"They slammed the door in my granddaughter's face and caught her hand in the door resulting in bruising to her fingers," she wrote. "This is a disgusting act and in a baby changing room."

Saunders said Tigger and his companion both looked to be in their 30s.

No arrests have been made. It comes on the heels of a disturbingly similar story about another randy man in a tiger outfit.

Last week, British bus driver Andrew Holland, 51, declared he is battling against the United Kingdom’s Extreme Pornography Act, which caused him to be wrongly accused of possessing bestiality porn in 2009.

Charges were dropped when authorities realized that what they thought was a video of a woman and a tiger was actually a video of a woman and a human man in a tiger costume.
