Quote: The 12-year-old girls had been plotting the murder for months, police say.
Morgan E. Geyser was allowed to have two friends over each year for her birthday. This year, she'd celebrate on May 30. That is the day she and Anissa E. Weier would try to kill their friend during a sleepover.
On Monday, the two Waukesha girls were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court as adults with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, each facing up to 65 years in prison. Their victim, another 12-year-old from Waukesha, was stabbed 19 times by either Geyser or Weier or both, according to a criminal complaint. All three attend Horning Middle School in Waukesha.
Quote: Both suspects explained the stabbing to police referencing their dedication to Slender Man, the character they discovered on a website called Creepypasta Wiki, which is devoted to horror stories.
Weier told police that Slender Man is the "leader" of Creepypasta, and in the hierarchy of that world, one must kill to show dedication. Weier said that Geyser told her they should become "proxies" of Slender Man — a paranormal figure known for his ability to create tendrils from his fingers and back — and kill their friend to prove themselves worthy of him. Weier said she was surprised by Geyser's suggestion, but also excited to prove skeptics wrong and show that Slender Man really did exist.
The suspects believed that "Slender," as Weier called him, lived in a mansion in the Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin. The plan was to kill the victim and walk to Slender's mansion.
Quote: Geyser's mom said they could go and play in David's Park, on S. East Ave., just north of Les Paul Parkway. As they left, Geyser lifted up the left side of her white jacket; the knife was tucked in her waistband. Weier told police she gave Geyser a look with "wide eyes." When asked by police what that meant, Weier said, "I thought, dear God, this was really happening."
Weier said they eventually ended up in the park bathroom where Weier planned stab her friend. Once in the bathroom, Geyser handed Weier the knife, and Weier indicated that Geyser tried to restrain the victim, but Geyser had a "nervous breakdown" and Weier had to calm her down.
Weier then suggested they go for a walk, pointing out a wooded area near Rivera Drive and Big Bend Road. They could play hide and seek, distract the victim, then kill her. Geyser was the first "seeker," and Weier and the victim hid. Weier told the victim where to hide and told her to lie facedown in the dirt. The girl refused. Weier then pushed the victim and sat on her, thinking Geyser could stab her. But the victim began to yell and complain that she couldn't breathe. She was attracting attention, so Weier got off her.
Geyser gave Weier the knife, but Weier said she told Geyser she was too squeamish and gave it back.
Weier said that once Geyser got the knife back, Geyser told Weier, "I'm not going to until you tell me to." Weier said she started walking away from Geyser and then told her, "Go ballistic, go crazy." Geyser said she would go ballistic, and Weier said, "Now."
Weier said Geyser then tackled the victim and started stabbing her. The victim was screaming. Weier said when Geyser got off the victim, the victim screamed, "I hate you. I trusted you."
Weier said the victim tried to walk toward the street but was stumbling. They didn't want anyone to see her, so Weier grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the street. The victim fell. Weier said the victim couldn't breathe, see or walk. Weier told the victim to lie down and be quiet — she would lose blood more slowly. Weier told police she gave the victim those instructions so she wouldn't draw attention to herself, and so she would die. Weier told the victim they were going to get her help; but they never planned on actually doing so. They hoped she would die, and they would see Slender and know he existed. With the victim lying on the ground, they began to back away.
When police asked Weier if she knew what it meant to kill someone, Weier said, "I believe it's ending a life and I regret it." Weier also said, "The bad part of me wanted her to die, the good part of me wanted her to live."

And now they're gonna blame Slender man for influencing them for this. The moment I finished reading this reminds me of that episode from "Code Monkeys" Season 2 Episode 2

Stupid ***. Either give them life in prison or the death penalty.
I only regret that Slender man and the wiki will be blamed for influencing this. When in reality, it was the idiocy of two 12 year old ***. Clearly something is mentally/psychologically wrong with these two.
At least they didn't mention the video game. Like the media needs another game to blame for some people's mental instability.

I have mixed emotions with this. Obviously, the girls planned and committed a heinous crime and they should be punished. What I don't necessarily agree with is trying them as adults. Yes they committed an adult crime, but they are 12 years old. That's nowhere close to the legal age. I also feel that if they are not tried as adults, then how exactly do you punish them accordingly? 6 years in juvenile detention is hardly appropriate for such a vicious crime, but 65 years for a truly terrible mistake by a couple of naive, stupid, ignorant girls seems somewhat excessive. I'm not sure what kind of precedent has been or might be established with this case, it just seems to be very difficult to find a middle ground.

article said they would be held until 12. so they'd be held a year longer than they've been alive. iunno, living 12-25 in jail, i can't see many people not coming out of that without some sort of damage.

Kids may contemplate murder, sometimes even attempt it, but they don't plan it unless they're being abused and feel it is the only way to rid themselves of the abuser. The motivation for these girls is completely off the charts into crazy-land, though. Evaluate them and lock them up in either a mental ward or a prison.

Fair enough. I guess 13 years in juvi/prison is fair for attempted homicide. Leaves them young enough when they get out to still live a productive life. I just hope that they don't become hardened criminals while in the joint and then take out their frustrations on innocent people again.

so is the victim at this point still fighting for her life? i hope she makes it out, this has got to be every parents nightmare O.o
about the punishment, it does indeed look extreme to me :/ but like sumo said, hard to find a middle ground on this punishment, since they are still only 12 years old and tech. they should have known better then believing a horror story/ creepy pasta, but at the same time they might still be gullible enough because of their age, and then again even if they believed it, what makes you plot a murder like that on somebody that's supose to be their friend... .
*head go's overload from all the then again's going on*
I'm glad i'm not a judge for this case

Inb4 concerned parents are up in arms about the Creepypasta wiki because they'd rather make a fuss about the content rather than monitor their kids' internet activity. When are people going to learn that the internet, much like M-rated video games and R-rated movies, isn't for kids?

I have to agree with Anne here. At such a young age it is the parents responsibly to monitor what there kids have access to. As for the girls, there crime is heinous. But trying them as adults is crazy. They may understand right or wrong. But I doubt they can fathom future downfalls of such actions.

12 years old is pretty young to be tried as an adult :/
As with a lot of cases like these, there's so many unanswered questions. What were the parents like? Was there abuse going on somewhere? Do they have some sort of underlying medical condition? I mean, seriously.. the fact that they thought they were sacrificing to slenderman kinda hints at the fact that they aren't exactly thinking normally/maturely >_>
I've dealt with and known a fair amount of kids, and yes, the older they get, the more of their "own" personality they develop, and need to start being accountable for themselves and their decisions, but at younger ages (yes, including 12) a lot of the way they act is based off their upbringing/treatment by their parents. I can't think of one shitty little kid I've ever known who didn't have awful parents.
Also, why are their parents not being held at least somewhat accountable in all this?
Edit to add: such sillyness with the creepypasta thing. I haven't been on it all that much, so I dunno if it's appropriate for kids or not... although I came from the scary stories to tell in the dark generation.
Reading over their kinda official response, it seems like parents/people are trying to get the website taken down. Holy ***people! You and you alone are responsible for what your kid sees on the internet. The internet is not a babysitter. On the flip side, through life/school/other kids your kids are gonna be exposed to crap. This is why you have frank talks about everything with your kids. You can't shelter them forever, but you can do a lot to help prepare and help them to deal :/

I feel horrible for the victim, but at the same time, I pity the two girls. Obviously they're disturbed to say the least, but being tried as adults for something they are too young to fully understand, and spending a potential 60 years of their lives in prison, is just not right.
They need help. They need guidance. And the probably need to look at some flowers.
