I have no problem reading any form of long-winded narrative, as I find sitting down and reading for a few hours quite enjoyable, so I have no idea how you can automatically assume that I'm not going to bother reading it at all.

It won't. He literally chose a definitionally insane response to stressors that humans have faced individually and collectively for 100,000 years. At most, the insight to be had is that insane people are insane. I'm sure it will be of considerable interest to clinical psychologists and people who aid the non-rational, but we're none of us those people.

What gem are you expecting to find in there? Unless half his university had personally tied him up and castrated him, I doubt anything revealed will illuminate rational thinking because there was no rationality involved.

Aspies (like me, shitheads -- do you think you're clever?) can and do get laid, though we're often considerably less stressed out about it than neurotypical people.

If you actually read this kid's autobiography, he seems to be normal rather than autistic. He socialized reasonably well by his own account, though he didn't interpret it that way, but was a klutz with girls. He suffered considerable inadequacy issues (I only skimmed the thing, but I'll bet easy money he either had or thought he had a tiny penis on top of whining about being short) and buried himself in video games, but he didn't portray himself as particularly abnormal.

Actually, I may as well say it: reading his manifesto is basically identical to reading The Catcher in the Rye. The sole difference between Elliot Rodger and Holden Caulfield is that Holden prefers to be self-destructive, which is the more usual route these cases take.

I tried reading his thing but it was boring. He should have written a cliff notes version.

The later sounds most likely. But they broaden the definition of the autistic spectrum almost weekly, to the point where people who even have a slight introvert preference are considered on the higher end of the autistic spectrum.

I understand the passion involved and wanting to watch one's victim's die, which if I were to do it is probably why I'd use a bladed weapon, guns are too impersonal.

But the best way in my opinion would be to use a bunch of smaller explosives with shrapnel, or to do some sort of chemical warfare.

I'm just glad I'm not insane, and actually do have at least a bit of empathy for others, even if it's just a tiny bit. I guess it's grown a bit more in the past 2 years though.

We all grew up with awkward social situation, some of us the outcast *cough* (me) - and I didn't get guns in 3 cities and drive around town shooting up all the yuppies.

So it boils down to he didnt get what he wanted so he threw a fit. seems he has been doing that all of his 22 years. Also I couldnt help but think how full of himself he was by the video. He would even pose to look cool.

I can understand wanting to fit in or looking to some kids as a model but he was trying to be awesome when he really was a kid with a problem that no one realized.

However part of this is also the unrealistic ideal that boys should have sex as early as possible and if you havent had it before the end of college then you are screwed. Same goes for a girl friend.

The media will blame guns and video games but I say blame pop culture.

also... someone could just be screwing with us. Looking at the recent mass shootings by misunderstood young people. Seems to be a pattern, its going thru all the different social groups and economic tiers. The only common theme is rejection and unfulfilled desires.

Maybe if he had another role model to follow, like a big brother this all could have been avoided.

I don't know if you can blame pop culture for this, as it affects people on a deeply psychological level that they may never be able to recover from. It's part of growing up, so perhaps not a lot to do with culture, more biology than anything.

Not being in a relationship before you leave high school, seems to alienate you from anyone you were friends with to the point where it really seems like they don't want have anything to do with you unless you have a girlfriend and/or married. I honestly don't know the precise reason, as I get told I'm crossing a line when I attempt to question any part of this phenomenon.

From personal experience I can tell you what it's like not getting 'laid' from a male's perspective until college, I can understand why people lose their minds and either kill themselves or kill others. It really drives you that crazy. Personally I just did a lot of heroin and pretty much every drug known and some unknown. Seemed like the smartest thing to do, as it only harmed me. Hey, it worked, I survived and graduated with two degrees.

I'm not sure if having a single parent from the age of 13, only a mother, played a role either. As I knew a friend who's father was still alive, but instead ran off the Florida when he was way younger and didn't talk to him much until college. He too had the engineer's brain, but he resort to doing a lot of LSD and shrooms.

Without going into too many more personal details, I should consider myself luckily I at least got to experience having sex before entering the real world after college. The only damaging effect I suffered is that I've never been in relationship, ever. Don't know why, don't know how, most likely will never know as any friend I have disappears when they get close with someone, so there's really no one to learn from. All I can do target the early 20's girls that aren't looking for a relationship. Gets expensive and boring after awhile though.

I've witnessed this problem in people who had both parents too, he didn't get laid until after college though. Dude is a mess now, haven't spoken to him since 2 years ago. Don't even know if he's alive. All he would do is just get furious all the time. Average intelligence though, so who knows.

Ultimately I just chalk it up to survival.

he quit like 3 hobby's because it stopped being cool or somebody he knew was better at it then him
he quit a job somebody arranged him because it was "beneath him" to clean bathrooms... and from what i could figure out he never finished school neither ;P

I can't blaim the parents for it, you don't know if they ever talked to him about jobs ect. how life is on your own...
and from what i could get in the pages he was scared about his mom finding out he quit that bathroom job... My guess is he never learned to deal with emotions of the reall world, it's sad that people had to die because of him (but it always is sad when a person decides the only way to get your frustrations out is by killing random people).

I think sex was the least of these kids troubles. He had deeper issues that needed to be resolved. Even if he would have had a girlfriend. She probably would have ended up dead.

I need dollar bills and lotion now...

He should have seen what my high school experience was like...
