Reports coming in saying it had an extra 4 hours in the air beyond it's last recorded position.
It could literally be anywhere now.
Anyone wanna entertain conspiracy theories with me that it flew into a building in mainland china and the statist government there isn't letting anyone know about it?
Is that even possible you think?

Is this how the show "Lost" got started ?
Lost got started as a collaboration between TV producers and writers since it is fictional. The story of flight MH370 started when a real plane full of real people disappeared. So I would have to say that no, this is not how Lost got started.
A) If I was sad every time I heard a tragic story I would throw myself off a building. Is it sad? yeah, sure. Sad things happen every second of every day.
B) At this point your kinda being a *** because you know what he meant

Radio station was talking about it being a conspiracy and that the plane was potentially landed safely. Some reports saying cell phones were ringing through and not going straight to voicemail, making some people think the place hadn't crash landed. Some caller that -seemed- to know what he was talking about said it was possible to disable/tamper with the transponder so the plane vanished, or looked like another plane to air traffic controllers. It is incredibly far-fetched, but it is possible.

Malaysian government did this on purpose to increase tourism.

Oh, I didn't realize showing a modicum of respect for missing or dead people was such a hardship. I didn't realize it was so difficult NOT to make fun of a tragedy. My bad. To apologize I'll start a thread about the building that blew up in New York where 7 people died, and we can all joke about them.

I see what the problem is. I woke up in the Mirror Universe today where calling out dickery is considered dickery. I understand now. Again, my bad.

I don't. What would be China's motivation for doing such a thing? I certainly can't think of one.

A few days ago there were theories that North Korea did it, and we all know their motivation >.>
The only question is, are they capable of stealing a plane...
Oh wait, here it is

No, the problem is people posting things on the internet and expecting nothing but positive responses.

Also, I don't know that any government has been tagged as "wanting" to hijack/kidnap a plane full of people. But you kinda gotta think they would know. It was a large plane, and wouldn't be able to land just anywhere, so you would have to think it would be a decent sized airport. That is the thinking that lead to theories about tampering w/ transponders so it looked like a different plane.

Wouldn't spoofing the transponder signal midflight show up as an anomaly? Wouldn't you either have two planes in the sky with the same signal or the same plane both flying and on the ground at the same time? Or just a plane flying around without a proper designation?
Maybe I'm not understanding how this stuff works.

I'm just being realistic, idk how to hide the info about a plane flew into a building in mainland China, unless there are zero witness.
Even alien abduction seems more likely.

Flight TWA 800 all over again.
How is TWA Flight 800 anything like this?
If you mean conspiracy hogwash, I really do hope they find this wreckage so people can stop making ***up and investigators can find out what really happened here so we can implement some safety protocols to prevent a repeat.
I really hope this plane didn't make it to the Indian Ocean though because in that case we're totally *** boned here.

Even if they have the motivation it'd be *** hard to execute it without letting some rumor out.
China is also different from North Korea, NK been trying to act like a bad kid and China is the polar opposite.

If a plane is on the ground I assume it isn't sending any kind of information. As long as you knew the plane you were going to copy was grounded I imagine it wouldn't show up. I have no actual information on how this works in the US, or overseas for that matter, so hell if I know. I do agree, arguing it is an alien abduction is nearly as plausible. The odds of someone thinking to hijack the place this way, having the ability to, and them pulling it off without a hitch seems like it would be impossible.

It will continue to send out a signal even if it's grounded...
Maybe they turned off the transponder for a bit... flew away from there last known spot for a hour or two to be in the general direction of other flight paths and flipped on a new transponder signal to get lost in the fray... if you don't know exactly what you're looking for and such... It might just appear as another plane in the sky...

still wouldn't be able to hide from radar, regardless of transpoder status.

If it did land safely in a major city, wouldn't the 19 artists that are missing turn up somewhere? Apparently these artists are famous, so it would be very hard to hide them for long in a public area...
I think people can rule that out.

You don't need to be "famous", it would be very hard to hide a plane and 200+ people in a public area.

You'd think a Malaysian airlines 777 landing somewhere in the middle of an international search effort would be noticed or something. You don't just put one of these aircraft down at the local dusty airstrip while Terrorist McTerror looks on from his Coleman tent.
Everyone sadly is most certainly dead. If someone managed to survive the crash, they've been out in the middle of nowhere for days outside of a liferaft drifting among debris no one can find.

Unless the plane landed in North Korea.
In all seriousness though, the best-case scenario here is that the passengers are alive somewhere, stranded on a deserted island. Most likely scenario though, is that every one of them has perished, and the plane wreckage is now on the ocean floor. I feel terrible for their families either way.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared on 8 March 2014 carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew. The Boeing 777 had left Kuala Lumpur at 00.41 for Beijing Airport but lost contact which air traffic controllers at around 01.22am as it crossed the South China Sea.
Passengers Phones ringing but not answering.
There were 227 passengers, including 153 Chinese and 38 Malaysians, according to the manifest. Two were children. All 12 crew members were Malaysian.
Among the Chinese nationals were a delegation of 19 artists who had attended an exhibition in Kuala Lumpur.
Two male passengers were travelling on passports stolen from an Austrian and an Italian in Thailand in 2012 and 2013 respectively, Interpol said in a statement. The two passengers were en route to Europe via Beijing.
