Character Gone

I think SE lost 20% of their customers to issues like this one. Instead of having a lean and effective customer service, they reinvent bureaucracy. The worst customer service in the history of mankind that is designed to make sure that everything is working while nothing gets done and nobody is to blame.

just some feedback from to the keylogger questiom

1st generations key loggers (way old) only took in what came from the mouse and keyboard buffer.

to counter that the virtual keyboard got invented to secure against key loggers. even some virtual keyboards or alike mechanics used random placements to make it even harder


Modden day (really not that modern) keyloggers take a little screenshot around the area you click with you mouse make all those virtual keyboard (random or not) obsoleted.

The only good way to surpass keylogger is by using one time password from a third party trusted site. Like the token or the paper keycard's ( cheaper to produce more hassle)


however security is a big misunderstood subject
like password. most will ave you believing the root of password hacking lives in short password with no special characters..

Where in truth it more social manipulation than anythings else.
people tends to use the same "secure" password over and over and over. one day that password is used in a site with low security or a password harvesting site.

don't Reuse your password.
install an easy password prehasher plugin for you web browser for absolute minimum to aovid password harvesting

also i highly recommend to enable NX bit on all software to avoid buffer overflow injection of trojans in your system

was your charecter deleted also?

So I now have accsess to my Square enix account and I sent in my fourm and ID for the charecter recovery any idea how long it takes SE to do this? I been playing 14 abit and it is boring as hell i want to play 11 badly

It's a step in the right direction, at least, since SE is able to let you use your account once more. Hopefully you'll be ingame within the next week.

Should get some mental prep work going in the mean time, since you'll be cursing the Gods (and SE) once you get back in and start that Plouton farming.

my first game recovery took about 3 weeks, the time after that, a little over a month. make sure your system is clean, and check your SE account in a few weeks, you see should the names of your chars show up in the FFXI services.

It wasn't but the point was it doesn't always take a super long time, it will sometimes be solved quickly.

well my recovery was aproved SE just doing a investigation now. this going to suck waiting

Just wondering, but there seemed to be some kind of correlation between that special BCNM campaign and all these missing characters for some reason, right?

Seems like they're going to be repeating the same event as part of a happy 11 years of XI campaign, so yeah, was just curious if it's safe to do those or if we ever figured out what the commmon issue was besides logging into the SE management site.

FINALLY! My brother's and my characters have been restored. We still don't know how it happened, but frankly I don't care anymore. :) Hope no one has this problem again though... :)

how long SE take to restore your charecters after sending in the form and your ID?
