I admit, sitting there Drawing magic from enemies (and bosses!) was boring, but the game was lots of fun for me. < .<

Same here. Most people pick on the negative aspects of VIII and don't pick on the negative aspects of other FF's.

I've never understood it. VIII is hated simply because it's not VII.

Some people have legitimate issues with the game, whilst the rest simply don't like it because they think VII is the end-all be-all.

Ask the majority of people who hate VIII which FF they played first. Most will say VII.

VIII had it's issues, the Draw system being one (I don't see the issue with Junction, and the GF Learn system was incredibly cool) but the core game is there and good. The story line may be a bit Cliché but it's no more so than IV V and VII. It's the fact that 'Love' is one of the main aspects of the game that people call it a chick flick, they seem to forget that the main issue in X was Love also.

But like I Say, biased people will be biased.

Problem with me is. My first FF was 6, so everything after that felt like ***in a way =/

Geez, never set the bar too high for Final Fantasy.

6 is arguably one of the best in the series; if you start with it and don't keep an extremely open mind, yeah, everything after it is gonna seem like crap.

Luckily, I started with 7. :3

I play games for gameplay, not story. A cool story is...cool, but it won't make/break a game for me in the least bit.

Many FFs had minor and major themes of romance throughout, however, FF8 felt so painfully awkward and mismatched, it was almost like watching Twilight.

I had serious issues with the style of 8 personally. Yes yes I know 7 had block hands, 6 had sprites.

Just seemed like everyone was really tall and lankey as ***on 8. My argument for disliking it is pure shallowness, I know. :3

It still interested me enough to watch a friend play it constantly all the way through. Except for Boosting GF's, he'd toss me the controller because I could boost more efficiently than a turbo controller. xD

Sprites > pre IX GFX imo.

And the Storyline of VIII was good, the entire time displacement was a bit clumsy, but it works if you believe the theory that Rinoa is Ultimecia.

Same.

I'd rather have cartoon-ish graphics than fail realistic graphics.

Oh I always leave my mind open. Problem is certain things will bug the ***out of me. They won't necessarily stop the game from being decent overall or will deny the fact that the story was respectable but they definitely walk a thin line pushing my buttons making a half assed gameplay system and making random plot devices and pathetic character development/interaction. FF8 was one of those that walked that thin line.

What? The entire love aspect of it wasn't even explored until late disk 3, when Rinoa is kidnapped by Seifer and Adel. And even then it wasn't as open as any western game. Japanese love stories are always subtle, and I didn't find it 'in your face' at all.

Compare it to X when there's an entire make out scene in a pond...

I still can't bring myself to play ff4 beyond like an hour of a new game. I have it on DS and it's just SO dull to me :x

I found IV to be one of the least interesting and over-rated FF's ever.

V and VI were superior in every way.

Oh I know it was subtle, but even after the climax to initiate said romance, it still felt remarkably awkward and mismatched. As if it was some sort of forced relationship for the sake of progressing the main storyline or justifying previously made actions. Just didn't play out well for me, but it was generally acceptable, just not as well defined as I had hoped.

IMO Rachel & Locke had a much more interesting past and plausible relationship than Cloud/Aeris, Squall/Rinoa, Tidus/Yuna ever had. But I am semi-biased of course.
Also I haven't played 9 in so long, I can't really recall what initiated something between Garnet and Zidane other than being on ironically equal ended motivations on opposite ends of social classes.

Well I found the same thing about Aeris and Cloud. Luckily Aeris died and stopped that issue from plaguing the game.

Never understood why they didn't just use a Phoenix Down. XD

My guess was that it was a mortal wound while battle KOs are simply being knocked into unconciousness. Which still doesn't explain how taking 9999 dmg when you only have 6k HP doesn't kill you permanently either.

I'll forever love 6 most. Personal bias since it was my first long term RPG on SNES (along with Earthbound/Zelda of course).

Nothing will ever replace the literal MONTHS I spent on that.

Same here, though it's not so much the bias of it seeing as I started with V.

VI will always be my favourite for one simple reason, and that reason is my Avatar.

Most stories have standard cliché'd antagonists, but Kefka was truly different. Seeing as for the first half of the game you only saw him as the comedic aspect of the game, thinking that a larger force was pulling his strings, you could see he was a very warped individual, but you were never sure what he was so you know. Him poisoning Doma was the first hint that he was a very twisted individual, but still. When he killed Gestahl and took the power of the warring triad my jaw literally hit the floor. And then to top it all he actually destroys the world! No other villain has done that.

If they ever released a prequel to VI where the explored Kefka's past and his Magitek infusion that drove him crazy, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Call me a sap, this part (and other ff people dying etc parts) were really really sad to me. ;-; This one the most though. lol

That part made me sad too. Strangely the only part to really upset me was the long FMV of Queen Bhrane (or whatever her name was) committing mass genocide on the Burmucean Kingdom.

I never hated a fictional character so badly after that.
And to see Garnet literally forgive her dead mother later was just like wow ; ;

The Locke, Celes, Rachel love triangle will always remain one of the saddest moments of video game history to me.

Garnet and Zidane were well matched Imo.

I am. Waiting for my lappy to come in, and hear back from 'em.

Do you know what skills you will get from jobcorps?
Ayup. Going into Culinary Arts as well. I figure, I can go into private schools for that later as well.

Seattle Central Community College in Capitol Hill has a great Culinary Arts program, just so ya know.

Inorite! I thought nothing of Kefka at first because he seemed to be such a whimsical light hearted villian made for the sake of comic relief or something of the like.

Then when he turns to really twisted obscene and cruel actions, you think he is behind something much larger in the big picture, but nope. He's just one *** up crazy badass that blows up the world by pushing a statue. Who knew?!
