before I forget...

Lord Foodha, god of food, hallowed be thy name.
your cornucopia come, your will be done. on earth as it is in food paradise
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses even though we never forgive those that trespass against us amen

I have sinned and I am a sinner. And I humbly beg lord foodha for his forgiveness.

I roasted four jalapeno peppers on the grill along with cedar plank salmon and some thai basil veggies.

I peeled one pepper and gave it to my wife and she complained it was too hot.

I had already eaten two and they were great so I speared her pepper with my fork and gobbled it up.

holy *** hell....it was the pepper satin keeps shoved up his ***

I don't know what I did wrong in the all seeing eyes of foodha but jebus h cripes did I pay

it burned with the white hot passion of a thousand suns all the way through my body.... eight hours of burning porcelain penance before the lord foodha heard my prayers and ended my suffering...

You should have sent tithing's to the shrine of Pepto or Kaopectate. They are far more benevolent than Foodha in this matter.

I'm way too old and stubborn for that...

taking pepto would be the same as admitting I was wrong!

and by the time I was ready to do that it was already to late...

I know. It makes no sense whatsoever. Not even a little bit.

I kept telling myself over and over that there is no way in hell that one stupid jalapeno can even be that hot.

it defies science and logic.

my lips burst into flame.... my forehead turned beet red and got all sweaty...I eat spicy peppers every damn day.

It was some kind of horrific spicy anomaly that may never be explained... except as divine punishment for some transgression I wasn't aware of...

Also, thanks again to magnuss for the cedar plank salmon idea that he probably stole from the american indians... but is greatly appreciated/probably why it tastes so good none the less.

has anyone tried cedar planking anything else? like jumbo shrimp as one example. They cook so fast I wonder if you could infuse them with planky goodness...

/ponders

you mark the cooking side of the plank by grilling it a few minutes first so theoretically it should flavor the shrimp...

It was horrible, had to set up a registry for the baby. buy buy baby is a like a bed bath and beyond from the 8th ring of hell.

I'm so torn between telling you the godawfuckfull truth and lying so that it's a horrific surprise later....

The multiplying villainies of nature do swarm upon him...

You chose to multiply, perhaps not realizing that the multiplication multiplies all the multiples of the mutiverse...

so...what happens when you have a baby is everything is multiplied... by about 47 million.... fear, joy, happiness, anger, frustration, every emotion, every experience x47,000,000

I was born without fear. I learned what it was when I had kids.

we have talked about it plenty of times here in NI but there is nothing I or anyone else can say to you that will mentally brace your brain for the impact a child will make.

Bottle warmers, bottle steamers and swaddling blankets with the velcro fasteners are useless, from my experience.

Bottle warmers: May as well toss a wide-brimmed glass or measuring cup into the microwave then drop the bottle in until lukewarm.

Steamers: May as well handwash with the brushes.

Swaddling blankets with velcro: Super if you don't have a squirmer. They'll "Hulk" and stretch until they undo the velcro.

Your pretty crib's finish is going to be demolished when he or she goes into beaver mode.

EDIT: I can't type today.

Yes.

Completely unrelated: Looking at desk jobs. Because I think I've finally had it with retail.

It sounds scary as hell, because it is. The fear is galactic in scope and implacable as a glacier.

And it's all worth it :)

I used this new invention called the dishwasher... if they can't survive a few germs they aren't worthy to compete for glory in our world....

idk why they made us stop relying on the wisdom of the old spartan baby checker guy that would chuck all the defects off a cliff.... but they did....

Hrrrmmm...Not excited about the prospect of having to jettison myself into local school district politics. We received our first flyer denoting a fairly insignificant hike in property taxes (to us at least) to expand the middle school and elementary campus here along with adding more to the HS curriculum. Polling to be held in May.

To us, it seems worthwhile, but in the back of my mind I know some people will fight tooth and nail to deny the raise in taxes. There will be a public forum. Curiosity is killing me. I might have to don my metaphorical knit cardigan earlier than planned to prep myself for years of indignation. Crap! :/

It's okay. The people with the most kids will be the people most firmly against it and never see why that's a contradiction. Just skip it all, have a beer, and make sure your kids understand that it's not okay to randomly punch people no matter how insultingly wrong they are.

The people with the most kids will probably be the ones at home having a beer I would think.

I don't know yet, but I'm itching to find out.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if the culture of middle and upper-middle-class didn't change to double down on "Texan" caricatures. I don't know how to explain it.

It's funny when people you knew in HS, who were floppy-haired, Birkenstock-clad, pseudo-surfers in their T-top Camaros and BMWs who made fun of the legitimate country kids who went mudding and had gun-racks (people who actually hunted before school) on their trucks, are now sporting Cardhardt, schnazzy boots and driving lifted trucks. It's goofy.

I don't know what happened. I don't know if it was the influx of CA/CO conservatives looking for their paradise or what.

EDIT: Not that I have a problem with most half-assedly/fair-weather religious people in our circles, it's the ones I don't know that I find somewhat worrisome, considering the direction some regions have trotted off to in this state.
