You tried an e-cig, Mos? Dad went to a 0mg e-cig after his stroke. I think he still sneaks a cigarette every now an then but that's much better than 2 packs a day.

My father-in-law has been using them to cut back on actual cigarettes/cigars. It's been working pretty well, and while most doctors will still tell you not to use at all, they also generally consider the e-cigs a better option. Though admittedly, with their newness, there are still unknowns. But long-term it's hard to imagine them causing more damage than regular smoking. Edit: There's also just allowing yourself to binge-eat any and all junk food you want as a concession to not smoking. I mean, it's not the healthiest option, but it's worked for some I've known! ...as long as you stop, you know. Shoving your face full of junk food at some point thereafter and don't just OD on Little Debbies. Ramyrez said: » Anna Ruthven said: » You tried an e-cig, Mos? The nicotine still isn't good for you, but getting rid of all the other nonsense in there (tar?!) can only help. Siren.Mosin said: » *** THAT. I think you have to be suggestible for that to take. When I quit, which I should have never picked up in college in the first place, I wrote a Pros/Cons list. The only think that stood out on the Pro side was that it was an excuse to go outside and be away from people for my own decompression/meditative purposes. So, I just asked my boss if I could simply have ten or fifteen minutes to be outside and walk a quiet lap.
I'm free to do as I please within reason. that is maybe the best part though... quiet.

E-cigs ionize the syrup to make a vapor, and as far as I can tell, they aren't very well regulated. Ionizing things can create a whole host of dangerous compounds. I'm reminded of an article I read about a welder who had been using MAF cleaner to remove mill scale before welding but ran out and used electo-parts cleaner instead. The fumes it gave off paralyzed him temporarily and cause permanent nerve damage. The two chemicals have nearly identical chemical makeup, but something in the electro-parts cleaner created a really nasty neuro poison when heated. Well, yeah. Like I said. Not fully researched yet.
But preliminary info has them pegged as, at least, no worse than your oldschool smokes. And there is also evidence indicating they can be helpful as a step-down to quitting. Both anecdotal and empirical. Caitsith.Zahrah said: » When I quit, which I should have never picked up in college in the first place, I wrote a Pros/Cons list. I quit in my early 20's because I ran out of smokes one afternoon and just didn't feel like going to the store. I was forced to quit when I got hurt a few years back, because nicotine slows healing and bones are already very slow healing. I started again last year and I've had the hardest time quitting this time around. Lakshmi.Rooks said: » Ramyrez said: » Anna Ruthven said: » You tried an e-cig, Mos? Rooks, I'd like to reiterate my suggestion to add a confederate flag just so P&R has a ***fit to throw and I'd like to suggest a "This post triggered me." option to reports. Thank you and I look forward to these changes. *** mad
add-on for a project we did 2 weeks ago, simple, put 2hrs into it, sent to production request digital print for the logo.... ....*** already made it. good? no. not *** good, cause they used the *** original file to size it. now the logo doesn't match up, in size, have to pulls theirs, clean it up, resize and make it production ready... AGAIN just to make it *** fit to their ***, when it is supposed to work backwards, instead of just grabbing the file we did 2 weeks ago and resizing that one. so not only did I loose 2 hrs done, I have to *** add 2-4 hrs into this ***-order. not to mention people look like *** puffing on e-cigs.

I think it was more "I will because I can" attitude, which is idiotic reasoning anyway. Why is the product different than the file? I get that stuff can get changed in production, but aren't they suppose to submit deviations for approval and documentation? Redoing the same thing you just did is one of my biggest aggravations. My grandpa taught me, "There's 2 ways to do it: The right way, and again." I don't really want to get too deep into this, but when I quit the last time, I found I couldn't go to the bathroom. Something about my morning ritual REQUIRED nicotine to get going. As if being stopped up or craving nicotine isn't bad enough, let's stick them together. Jassik needs a smoke to poop!
