you two are both hopelessly cram jammed full of absolute horse hockey.... not cursing isn't lying, it's coming up with something more intelligent to say than f bombs every other word. the only thing cursing conveys is an inferiority complex. Tch, I'm on your side here. My only point was that most formal etiquette is a series of social mores built on top of what are fundamentally lies. Re: cursing, the English language has so many conventional weapons, I don't get why people always have to go nuclear. Siren.Mosin said: » Morning NI, I hope it finds you bright eyed & bushy tailed. I called my cable tv provider because one of my tv boxes went plaid... sweet baby jebus as a professional in the evil technical arts myself, I like to see how other companies handle problems. yes, I have tried turning it off and back on again, of course I will try it again ten more times, sure I'll go buy a new hdmi cable... 8:00 am on a friday for a service call will be fine. could you ask the technician to bring a replacement box with him? I'm pretty sure it's the box so I knew it was going to be a long morning when he showed up without a box in his hand...where's the box? I queried. I'm a service technician not an installer ... leave everything to me!!! so an hour and a half later he has a new amplifier hooked up and new cables running to the box and as he is sitting there filling out his paperwork everything goes plaid again. look, I said, somewhere inside the box is a bad solder joint, when it heats up, it flakes out. I need a new box. I asked customer service to specifically request that the service technician bring a new box.... but the service technician is all flustered. I'm not an installer, customer service has to do this and that I don't know if I have a box I'm late for another appointment... It wasn't my fault!!!... YouTube Video Placeholder

Who said I use "***" every other word? I mean, sometimes, sure. But I'm much more creative with my profanity than that. I mean, when it comes to "***", I'm just going to let Lewis Black say it best: "It's not a word, it's a breath." I'm quite eloquent when I need to be. Second what clap trap did you pull your "lies" theory out of? You're building a pyramid with proper grammar on top of formal etiquette on a foundation of "social mores" which you believe to be based on lies? so therefore proper grammar itself is a lie? tisk tisk tisk.... your brain, sir, is hopelessly and completely *** Shiva.Nikolce said: » You're building a pyramid with proper grammar on top of formal etiquette on a foundation of "social mores" which you believe to be based on lies? so therefore proper grammar itself is a lie? tisk tisk tisk.... Ingratiating lies are not a way to live life. I mean, being polite on a basic level is simply the way you should live. But "etiquette" is another thing entirely. Emily Post can take the salad fork from whatever the proper side is and cram it where the sun has never laid eyes. YouTube Video Placeholder For Nik. Ohio, represent! I don't agree with shunning an entire subset of the language. I happily use bad words when they are the best tool to convey a point. Sometimes just to end a conversation with a really annoying stranger that can't take a hint. Be quiet.
Sit straight, with legs closed. Speak politely. Never interrupt others. Keep a discreet behaviour. Laugh softly. Never raise your voice. Excuse yourself when leaving. Bow when greeting. Don't engage in physical contact. Eat in small bites, without making noise, with the proper tools. Odin.Jassik said: » I don't agree with shunning an entire subset of the language. Hasn't worked for me, I've pretty much always been the boss for the last 10 years and now I work from home, lol. Not really a book, just rules I've been taught and that I follow to the letter in rl since I was a child.

I disagree, somewhat rarely, they are the BEST idea to convey a point. I'm not talking about swearing because you're angry or someone has offended you, I'm talking about more passive aggressive situations. |
