Yeah, but let us be completely honest: Stallone had no concept of what the character or comic's themes even were and butchered them horribly.
It just so happened that it turned into an amusing, campy film anyhow.

She's a good actress? It's not like she gets high billing in blatantly sexy roles. For me she's right there with Uma Thurman and Cameron Diaz. Okay-looking, but really good actresses. (The other two actually do get those roles, which confuses me, but...)
Uma Thurman is a good actress? I only ever remember her being in two movies... Kill Bill - which didn't really show case any acting ability imo and even cowgirls get the blues which is really just all about her fingering herself with that big ol' thumb....

I don't think they're timeless talents, but they're competent for their genres. It's more than you can say for a lot of young actors and actresses who get paid more to look nice and be pensive or broody than they do to actually act.

The source material seems problematic there for me. Not as bad as say, Twilight, but...it's juvenille fiction.
