Wat. Judge Bergan was amazing. XII has some of the best voicework in the entire series. Cid alone was worth top tier acting.

Vaan was perfect, cause he acted like a kid thrown into some ***a kid has no business in. Too bad XII has terrible pacing that torpedoed the game.
I assumed he was just speaking for the playable party proper.

Meh, I'd never give ***to the playable cast voices. Balthier definitely stands out cause Gideon Emery is a boss but Ashe, Basch and Fran sounded amazing.

I felt like part of XII's pacing problem wasn't so much the storyline's fault as much as the period where the game really opens up and let's you do your free-range sidequesting is a really, really bad time for it; by the time you've done a bunch of hunts you've forgotten what the *** you were trying to do with the main quest line.

It's like they forgot that they built this game for a generation of gamers raised on RPG'ing to Completionist Level: OCD-like-What About Bob.
Well, I thought the same thing about Tidus in X for about 60% of the game. My beef with XII was that Vaan was just your point of view, not the main character which was, imo, Ashe. It was her story. I would've preferred the ability to swap between Vaan and Ashe as main character.
I've discovered the cure to my ills today is listening to every Cake album the entire way through sequentially.

At too many points in XII does the storyline fail to maintain momentum which leads to boredom which leads to not wanting to play. There are too many instances where a major event happens only for you to need to slog through some unimportant zone or two only to be fed the next plot point which now seems not so important. The Great Crystal is the major offender, being one of the most '*** the *** off SE' zones in FF history.
Worse is the criminal underuse of Penelo and Fran who are just sidekicking it up for their love interests. Basch, Ashe and Balthier could have three-manned the game with very little lost.
Pharos @ Ridorana was great (Subterra is even more fun) only for the Sky Fortress Bahamut to be a complete disappointment of a 'final' dungeon. It's like the game wanted to get itself over with. Other gripes include Vayne not being a good villain but that I think is crap.

They tried to weave Vaan into the main scenario but the problem was no one gave a *** about Reks and since the 'Basch killed my bro' thing was squashed pretty quickly, the character ended up with little to do other than act as Ashe's moral compass and be a doofus.
He's the everyman but do people play RPGs to be the everyman?

I hit this point with almost all games though.
Only now at 30+ have I gone from thinking ADD is complete and utter BS to actually thinking I have it, following...you know. About 20 different adults telling me so.

I need to play 12 again. I made it exactly to where ramy was talking when you get your hunts, finished those, forgot what I was supposed to be doing, & went back to 11.
I finished 10, but it was too linear. I will, however, buy it for ps4 when it comes out & play it again, so it couldn't have been tooooooooooooo bad.
