Last few seasons just lingered too long. :/
Every season after the first -- from the very first episode of season 2 -- was just entirely downhill. The show as compelling, engaging and just generally amazing.
And then it went to ***.
I blame the writers, as the actors are on the money.
Don Draper I get; you're not supposed to like him, though roughly 101% of people in the U.S. do for some reason.
But even aside from him...there isn't really one redeemable person on that show. It killed me. I couldn't keep watching.

I forgot which season it was where I started falling off. I want to say it was three? The one where Draper and Sterling went rogue and created their own firm.
I think the popularity of it gave the writers segues into jumping the shark time and time again. Draper was a good character but with his eventual cultural icon status they kept going for broke with him.

The first season is really a master stroke in character development. I just felt, if you'll allow me a bit of imagery, that the garment they eventually sewed with the threads of that first season, however, was ill-fitting and gaudy.
I watched all of season two and into season three, so I guess that yes, I technically fell off the same time you did. After a few episodes of season two I didn't care for where it was going, but I rode out the season to see where it went and if it would recover.
In my eyes, it didn't.

What didn't make any sense at all to me was they based an entire sub-story in a season or two around Betty grappling with getting out from under Don's shadow. Then, next season, all the sudden she's divorced, comfort eating herself to obesity, and crawled up the leg of a politician? The writers could have done a lot more with her.
Hate Pete too, but I loved Trudie! Then again, I like Alison Brie, so...

Actually, I guess I lied. Salvatore, Trudie, and (mostly) Joan are fairly sympathetic characters, at least within context of the show. Actually my feelings for Don greatly turned at his response to Salvatore's situation with the cigarette jerk.
But then he left the show, so...oi.

I like anime just fine...much like comics, it's something I used to be into before I had a job and responsibilities and things had to be let go. I watch some of my old favorites sometimes still.
I'm not "going after" anime at all. I promise. Just happened to bring it up in two seperate instances and I guess neither is going over well. Whatever.
