FFXIAH Linkshell Ni
If I could is start wearing more purple/dye my hair. *lesigh*
So I was getting ready to leave the house this morning with Kat in the pram when I looked out the front door window to see a large yellow jacket nest on the ground. About 5ft from the door. It's about 7" high and 10" wide.
Lovely. I called Mil (he's been traveling for work all week) and he says go to stark (kind of like a home depot) and buy wasp killer or use boiling water. I'm thinking I'll use both. Everything online says to attack after dusk, so I'll do that in 12~ hours. Use the wasp pesticide killer from a long distance and then wait 30-60 minutes and douse the nest with boiling water mixed with detergent. What has everyone else done with yellow jacket nests? Be sure to check if it is legal to destroy/move the nest as private person before. In Germany this is illegal.
Depending on the kind of wesp this can be a dangerous task without protective clothes and if one manages to mark you you will be in your house calling for help anyway before you can leave it again. Yeah, I read about that in Germany.
Denmark at the moment has no laws on removal of wasps (or hornets as they probably are) mainly because they didn't really migrate here until last year. Our summers are usually too short and too cold for them. http://cphpost.dk/news/watch-out-for-giant-hornets.9958.html So far they aren't agressive but the nest has only been there for 24-36~ hours. Morning ni. finally *** friday. I may have to break my booze restrictions tonight. one of those weeks...

Mil is 100% right, boiling water or common pest killers will do brilliantly. if I were you though, I'd bat my pretty eyes, & ask a random neighbor to do the killing for me, no sense in risking life & limb with ample dim-witted men around. generally us males are up for a battle versus nature, whether it behooves us or not. However, after reading about how many wasps might be in a hive of this size I contacted a wasp removal company. Hopefully they live up to their motto and are here in 4-12 hours. ***I agree about waiting for another adult. I decided to do that as Mil will get home around midnight. But now -hopefully- it will be removed by then. Bahamut.Kara said: » Mil is seriously allergic to wasps. Could you imagine the spiral of depression he would find himself in as he gets out of his car at the midnight and finds his wife dead strangled by the choke hold of the might wasp! His baby inside crying and starving having been left alone for hours and hours without the mother person?!!?! Siren.Mosin said: » Morning ni. finally *** friday. Oh, we got it running too. this is when you pull out your phone & record him flailing & screaming like a school girl, then post it to liveleak & link it right here. would. have. made. my. morning. Break out the booze my friend and suckle at its generous and mind numbing teet... everything will be ok again... Siren.Mosin said: » I think you're being over dramatic here, mein bruder. and chauvinistic. but the point is the baby is six months old. You don't ever leave babies alone. Not in a car, not in a house, no where. Here is a good rule of thumb when you are alone with a baby. If you can't do something safely with the baby in your arms, you don't do it at all. It's (to me) large but it's not HUGE. It's less than 2 days old and about the size of an army helmet. Some story I read today mentioned a nest 12ft Edited Shiva.Nikolce said: » sissy~ectomy! O good god, I really do need booze, don't I?
maybe robin williams was on to something.... PARKER keep an eye on him... if he starts crying, hit him with the surgical 2x4
LOL! Why do I have the mental image of Nik and Mos (age ten) daring and double daring each other to shoot the nest with a water gun?
IDK. I'd definitely call someone to remove it, especially it being around the front door. I had to have honey bees professionally removed from the chimney of my first house. They're not as aggressive as hornets though. Ugh! Hornets! /squirms |
