I have grown extremely weary of architects saying "delineate" all the time. it's starting to make me think when they get their degree the guy pulls them aside and says "If all else fails just say 'delineate' a bunch, it'll make dummies think you're smart!"
am I on to something here z? or skull do those jackwagons say it all the time over there too? or is this a regional meneace? Shiva.Nikolce said: » what are you yelling about now scuba steve? I am still upset they would not pass my Caulk submittal used at the back of kitchen countertops meeting the wall, due to it being standard interior caulking and they want exterior grade...ITS A *** EXISTING BUILDING GETTING REHABILITATED WHILE OCCUPIED!!!!! /flips countertop on their head Umm...no not heard them say delineate, but I do see them just point out to ***in prior emails and attach it all then to give an answer directly. This one project has 900+ RFIs....like how do you design a building THAT BAD?!?!?! Quote: ranni3: pc demands blood of the innocent~ I guess I don't understand how you can question someones degree or capability for wanting a different quality of product. Unless said product will cause some kind of issue (other than you being annoyed).

Unless said product will cause some kind of issue (other than you being annoyed). Raining on the outside of a building and not raining in the kitchen. U'd have to be really special to make it rain in the kitchen and get past the appropriate level of caulk, and if you did, you'd have your own special other problems to deal with. This matters for cost of the tubes of caulking budgeted. Technically they did have the more expensive one specified, but most architects and common sensed people will listen to reason and be like "hey you're right" plus many architects copy n paste the Specs (I see it happen Z, sorry) so it is a guessing game sometimes. Siren.Mosin said: » I have grown extremely weary of architects I blame w.c. fields. he was the one that came up with "if you can't dazzle them with your brilliance baffle them with your ***" ask hoppy if you can borrow her /bitchface or flavin's /reallydude? face I would let you borrow my /I already have the whole dug where I am going to bury your body face but we are saving that for young gentlemen that come to call on your daughters. So basically this is all about cost? So technically even though they originally specified what they wanted and asked for it again you're just upset that they did not acquiesce and do what you wanted them to do because it cuts into your budget even though you should have budgeted for it in the first place?
I still don't see this as a reason to question their intelligence. Edit: It's *** like you that cause me so much more work. Cutting corners to save a couple bucks then I have to deal with 8 years of CD claims coming in and all the headaches that ensue. This one project has 900+ RFIs....like how do you design a building THAT BAD?!?!?! None taken. Used to it by now. I know that some have been skimping and employing more staff that simply drafts rather than those who have four/five year degree. Then again, I've noticed a lot of dependency on tech rather than being more hand-on (I'm not a fan of hand-drafting either) that, in my opinion, makes people a tad more lazy minded. IDK. I haven't been overly in awe of the talent of interns during the summer. If it's a rehab, how many recalcs do you really need for each unit? Aren't they identical? The SE and/or ARCH should shored up the structural problems, if any, before you were even in there. That's dangerous. Who's requesting RFIs after the fact, anyway? Are you sure it's not the client/s and/or investor/s? EDIT: God! I'm so TIRED! Kalyna Maimhov said: » I'm so confused. Lakshmi.Flavin said: » So basically this is all about cost? Owners hate Contractors. I am just the sum of my existence for the last 10 years and being frustrated with them. Also and Architects 10 years ago were better than they are now. /conjures my old and curmudgeon memory. XD http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplayspokemon
I was too, at first. It's quite interesting tho. I'm curious what's gonna happen once they actually finish the game later this week (they're very very close) Caitsith.Zahrah said: » Then again, I've noticed a lot of dependency on tech rather than being more hand-on (I'm not a fan of hand-drafting either) that, in my opinion, makes people a tad more lazy minded. \o/ Persona 5 officially announced for USA! (and PS3 only)
and persona q coming out this fall! Once one of you contractors actually completes a job on budget without changing everything after everything has already been set and completes the job in the scheduled amount of time I might start to see you guys differently.
How could you point the finger away from yourself? It would be more like... hey guys lets all get together in one group so I can point this giant finger at all of us. Also, the cop out "well don't blame me because everyone else does it too" is the biggest bunch of ***. ***... all of you! We'd be making good bucks by getting you to buy the policy then having you do your job correctly so the policy never triggers coverage. Every time is does it's taking money out of a carrier's pocket to either defend or indemnify you. CD claims never really seem to end either.

(wow my typing sucks, thank you spell check) I usually give you a free ride as english is not your first language but I'm really having a hard time understanding you when you type stuff like this. I have no idea what you are trying to say. Carbuncle.Skulloneix said: » Them sending out emails in mass and thinking its taken care of. When we can call people and take care of problem easier than just sending out emails. My Bosses prefer alling people and doing it this way and it is way I was trained. The new estimator prefers to email others and our boss sometimes yells "just pick up the phone and call him!" /shrug. I don't know your buisness but after 13 years of sales I've regretted NOT having a paper trail more than I've regretted not making a call instead. It's more of a "CYO" for me. I call out of habit/courtesy/confirmation that they've received updated specs/plans, because I did intern with a GC in college because of slim pickin's, and you build a better rapport with your usuals. You're right that e-mails can be ineffective, but at their worst, they're very impersonal. Then again, if you're at a bigger firm, I'm sure you just don't give a flying ***.
