Well that was interesting my apologies to the ladies for the undue stress... it is not my wont to cause such a disturbance.

Let's be discreet and place all the recent unpleasantness behind us as there is much work to be done... {PARKER sweeps debris under the rug] don't tell Mag!

PARKER!!! take a letter, the letter "D"....

also the thanksgiving day feast of tremendous consumption is almost on us. Z has the booze list started...

anyone deep frying a turkey? I want to try it but I fear it won't taste the same as a roasted turkey and I am afraid it will leave me still considerably turkey hungry...if you know what I mean..

I slow cooked turkey halves in my bbq grill. it was excellent but not quite the same as oven roasted and it made me hesitate pulling the trigger on the fryer purchase...

from what I understand you stick the turkey in the fryer while it's in the wrapper and fill it up with water to the appropriate level and then remove the turkey and make note of the water level, then dump the water out and fill to that line with oil.

the mistake everyone makes is too much oil, add turkey, oil spills over and is ignited by gas burner, yadda yadda yadda fire dog smells around the charred cinders that were once your house looking for cadavers.

Hey! The family that boozes together, stays together! Or something like that. I think I want to try to make homemade Irish cream for Christmas this year.

We had it last year. It was good, but it was dry due to my dad breathing down the lovebug's neck and micromanaging. He's smoking it this year. Fingers crossed that my dad doesn't do the same this year.

:/

Last year I mentioned on here that we let the kiddos take turns shooting arrows when my parents host Thanksgiving. I'm still not sure why that was surprising to anyone.

Dull arrows that are older than me, a styrofoam (sp?) or cardboard target, and children...MONSTERS!

Not surprising to me. Couple years ago, I was guest to the GF of the time's Christmas dinner thing. And mean while, the young boys. 6 & 8 were out with their uncle, the girls brother, shooting arrows with a bow at a target on a tree stump. Seemed normal to me.

No, not really. I think they were surprised that we'd give kids a "weapon" to entertain them. We monitor them. It's better than four to six stir-crazy kiddos running around inside.

Both. I still not shot a bow. And I was not fortunate enough to get the PE class where they taught Archery. However that class/block also had to do Power Walking. HAH!

About the same age. The bow that four generations have used now was my grandfather's first bow when he was a kid. Just a standard longbow. My dad, his sibs, and cousins used to goof off with it, we did, and now ours are. The arrows we use are still from the 1970's.

I have a love/hate relationship with guns. They're loud, and I could never hold them tight enough. I always ended up with a bruised shoulder. No reward in that.

Honestly, when I went "hunting", it was more or less my grandfather and I looking at tracks in the creek bottom while everyone else were in serious stalking mode. It suited me just fine. My cousins, brother, Dad, and uncle would be off at the butt-crack of dawn and my grandfather and I would show up later and just toddle around on the property. In retrospect, I think I got more satisfaction out of it than them, and I never had to take a shot.

I love this time of year! :)

EDIT: Come to think of it, my grandfather was the one who encouraged the bow over the gun for me, because I was always jittery and distressed whenever we would shoot bottles and what not.

When I read that, I figured you enjoyed that part the most before I read the end. XD

Well, it slowed down in here!

Ugh! Some people! Was he a pimp or was he caught during the transaction?

A couple of years ago, one of my ex-BF's frat brothers was hauled in for breaking and entering, drugging, and raping a gal. Apparently, he was a dealer too. That kind of took me aback, but at the same time, he was always a seedy character. I never really spoke to him. Just one of those people that you can feel straight to the marrow was bad news.

Wednesday! Half-day! Woo-hoo!!! I don't know why they won't just give us Wednesday off too. It's always dead as a doornail. The only time we ever had a frantic day before Thanksgiving was when we had to accommodate for a miscalculation for a gen on an expansion for a community center. That was *** ridiculous!
