Wait till the kiddo is 4-6 before you get him a pup. By that point he can take care of it.

don't get me wrong, dogs/kids do well together, but my daughter was aleady 3-4 when we got the stupid sheepdog, & that was a good fit. but he thinks the baby is one of his pups or something, & gets all dumb & whiney when other people hold the baby, ect.
he's a dirty, shedding, ball of stinky *** dog, & I just don't like him licking the poor guy who just got tossed into the world and is trying to become accostumed to it.
