The new management for XIV is way WAY superior to what was there before.

The fact that Yoshi-P the lead developer gives us insight and an update plan is a very good start.

Yes they are. What are they adding to make the game fun?

This next update gives you colored damage text, ability to view timers (oh goodie! we can see how long i can afk til i can do the next batch of leves!), turn on/off the viewing of equipment (seriously?) and giving you something like 100xp more when you're in a party.

How are any of those fun?

The Spell system still sucks
The battle system still sucks
the EXP system still sucks, even tho they made it a bit better
everything about FFXIV sucks

these new devs are NOT doing anything to make the game more likable, only making things the way the 200 people that actually still play it want it to be.

Logic that only works if they don't put effort into the video. See FFXIII-2 for that.

With the Versus XIII video, it's obvious how the game is going to work and how it most likely will feel, the only major changes might be additions to areas (hidden rooms, etc) or something along those lines, but the backbone of the game being implemented generally means that's how it's going to stay.

I just complemented a game I don't really intend to play for a very long time. FFXIV has potential, Versus XIII doesn't even look to have that much.

I'm very excited for versus. KH was a fun game but I can't sit down and take a game serious that has ever popular FF character paired with Disney characters....

I have to admit FFXIV is a lot more fun. I just don't intend to play it until PS3 launch because I feel by then there will be content in the game. Whats the point in leveling to 50 if all you're gonna do is stop and level another job because no EG content. But as I stated before a lack of content is common at MMO launch.

As for what you just said about FFXIV, the new management is exactly that, new they cannot change the game overnight. If you had done some research before spraffing more ***you would realise there is a very long and very thorough development plan on the Lodestone for the near future in response to player feedback.

Not as extreme as how you put it, but no matter how you look at it, PS2 limitations.

Casting spells even requires you to anticipate your ping beforehand.

Even so, no other game has held my attention for 5 years.

XI's usability was no-where near as bad as XIV's usability.
The point I was trying to illustrate was SE had had almost 9 years to correct its mistakes for FFXI and it hasn't, and they're doing that already for XIV. Progress.

I'm not playing FFXIV until their original intended release date, Late March/early April. Can't pass judgment on a game that's still by-and-large incomplete.

That said, I think they created a new linkshell or something because none of the pearlsacks nor myself played so no one could hand out pearls.

Everybody's worse than the old until they do something good that will help gain back my interest as well as everybody else's to where I can actually find people at a camp. Somewhere where, ya know, I can enjoy being in a party with random people. Somewhere so I can chat while synthing.

Camps have 5 people tops at them, at the ones I've been to. Even the camps near the starting cities have like nobody. It's *** sad dude.

Any word on what day the update for FFXI this month is? I'm not playing FFXI until it comes out because I can't justify exping for half the exp that I'd get after the update.

Bored waiting though. D: Only LV15 so can't do much in the way of NOT-exping.

Things the new dev team have done better than the old dev team:

Item search feature, NM's, new mobs, new gear based NM's, Crafting recipes, UI improvements, Player polls and Letters from the producers.

That's all in the 2 months since they've been in.

Gobs and flans and some weird beastmen.

NM wise there's 3 'hnm' at the moment and other smaller ones.

I haven't done any of it yet.

The thought of flans just makes me want to play FFXI more.

Speaking of, is there anyone here that doesn't currently play FFXI but is thinking about starting again? We could use a 6th on Fenrir for the whole stay-at-75 oldschool idea.
