http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/38174/sony-ngp-vs-sony-psp
"Games

Tie: NGP
Digital and removable
Tie: PSP
Digital and removable

As the consoles progress, we can expect the games to come along with them as well. While we have an idea of the NGP line-up, not only is it too early to say if there are going to be any big hitters but one would expect the same kinds of producers and developers to be at work. Doubtless, there’ll be more interesting and profound interactions with other Sony devices but all of that is as yet to be seen.

So, instead we focus on the method of delivery. There’ll be no UMD disks, which disappeared with the last incarnation of the PSP, but we do know that the NGP will feature the ability to download games and to play them off memory cards as well. For the moment, they look something like SD cards but we’ve a sneaking suspicion we’re looking at proprietary modules instead."

I'm reading that Sony might be going to SD-card like cartridges for their games.

If they do, I wouldn't mind a PSP2.

You prolly did but someone / other people were saying Cartridge was a no-way. (Edit: Anja and Laffter were the ones who were makin' fun of cartridges. Anja was the one who brought up PSP2 too xD)

http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/01/psp-2/
here's one site that says cartridge = new way for PSP2 games

I saw another website that questions "will it now be cartridge?"

and the one i posted a few posts ago mentions that games will be played off of HDD as well as memory cards (whether or not that means saved to memory card + play or buy the game + play, who knows)

Kal, they have designed a new memory card format for it. You also don't seem to understand the difference between developing a game for a format that stores 32GB+ and a cartridge that only stores 2GB (the size of initial 3DS carts, and its only confirmed that they will go up to 8GB over the life of the console). SD =! Cartridge.
Why do you hate cartridges so much?

IDK bout you but I prefer a hard copy of the game (Cartridge/UMD/CD/DVD/Blu-Ray). Why?

Oh look! Final Fantasy XIII is out! I want to play it!

(hours later)

I don't like it! /sells to GameStop for at least 10 bucks

(Edit: Also, you want to play a game and Used - $20 where-as New - $40. Wouldn't you want the cheaper one?)

whereas digital downloads... if you hate the game then well, you just wasted 60 bucks and didn't get ***back.

Edit: Forgot my point --- Look at all the Cartridge consoles, What do you think those Cartridges are?

They're Flash Carts (like your SD card) that's set to ROM with some Re-writing --for save files -- You do know this right?

You do realize why packaged games are so expensive right?

There's a key word in there.

PACKAGING.

No matter what people say that ***costs money to, so you have to factor in the cost of packaging + manuals + printing + anything else I forgot.

Whereas digital download is just supplying the digitized copy of the game to the store for it to be put out.

Most digital copies of games that I own have come faaaaaaaaaaaaar cheaper then if I were to buy them retail (most of them being like 70-80% cheaper)

I don't hate cartridges - and I love my DS. But saying that cartridges are exactly the same as flash memory is a very loose and inaccurate statement.

In otherwords, can you explain why 3DS doesn't start out with 8GB carts for example? We have had SD cards of much higher capacity for years now, and according to you they are the same thing.

Ps. I love hard copies too! I love reading through the instruction booklet :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_cartridge
"A ROM cartridge is a removable cartridge that contains read-only memory devices and, commonly, flash memory devices to allow some read-write capability."

You're a woman, you know nothing about technology.

Urgh I forgot my PSN password. was gonna check to see if you were right. But googling it, I see that you're not right. Dissidia download is the same as the actual UMD game.

People tend to forget that a digital copy can usually be downloaded again for free.

However, you are paying for convenience instead of packaging. :|

You still pay the same price. And like I said, if you don't like the game you bought for 60 bucks, digially you're screwed but hard copy you can at least get like 10 or 15 bucks back or even sell it on ebay =P
