Isn't "custom building" a laptop really just picking what parts are in them? to my knowledge I've never seen parts just shipped to someone and them physically putting it together, too much risk involved I would imagine since some of the parts are more ... finicky?
Or I just haven't yet delved into that lol.

No. There are ways to buy frames, essentially a laptop chassis, glass screen and the actual screen itself along with all other parts.
But it is significantly more difficult and expensive to work out everything together, especially since compatibility is a greater endeavor on laptops.

Ah yeah, forgot about price, I remember pricing laptop parts out for laughs and ... well ... my current laptop was cheaper then one that was waaaaaaaaaay out of league with it.
Compatibility also would be a huge issue since ... well ... you gotta make sure everything will work together ... and packing it all into a tiny *** chassis.
It would be something fun to try if I was getting the ***for free, but otherwise i'll leave it well enough alone.

Laptops are notorious for simply not lasting that long in comparison to PCs. For that reason alone, it really isn't worth taking the effort or money to compile one yourself unless you know you can put something together for an equal or lesser price than what corporations like Sony, HP, Toshiba and Samsung have to offer.

still wish i had my mac laptop c.c least recording software was easier on it than this ***...

Honestly i'm comfortable with either, I've got experience using either or, I plan to start a home business in a year or so that's going to primarily focus on the taking and editing of photographs and/or videos, so having something that will be more centered around that would be good.
