It sounds different from most FF songs because it was the idea of one of the guitarists in The Black Mages and the singer is Bill Muir, who comes from some other band whose name escapes me at the moment.
Other than that, it's as straight-forward FF as it can get.

Speaking of variations on music, I recently replayed FF7, and I noticed the last Jenova encounter just before Sephiroth uses different music from the other Jenova fights. It almost sounds like a reversed, upside-down version of the song or something.

Never much cared to play a single Persona game. I know they're made by the same people that made the game with the greatest name known to man, but still.
