You can't just submit an application with the most generic basic information and hope for the best. You have to be on their *** and pursue it to make it come into fruition. Until you get the thumbs down from the employer themselves, keep trying.

Indeed, I don't exactly have an impressive lineup of work history or something as complex or sophisticated line of work such as cabinetry. However, my point was her judgment in what is and is not acceptable in a workplace is wishy washy considering her only work experience was 4 years ago by the grace of her father, regardless of what line of work it was. And more importantly: Hasn't been working for the past 4 years and still isn't.

Well, I know her pain. It took me 2 years to find a job (the one I've been at for 8 years that's driving me INSAAAAAAAAAAANE) and without relevant training, it can be extremely difficult.
What landed me a job was a detailed portfolio of all my skills, grades, and anything of interest (had report cards, pictures I drew, pictures of stuff I made in metal shop, letters of recommendation from family members who were pretending not to be family members, library staff members, and people I -had- worked for, awards and achievements I got in school, among other things) and when I got to the interview phase, the portfolio answered everything, from teamwork experience, to conflict resolution.
It may seem like a lot to land a job at say, starbucks? But I'll wager not many interviewees come that prepared, either. It's worth a shot.
The only other advice I can give is keep putting your name out there, every single week, as sometimes employers will throw out resumes when they're not looking. Seeing your name repeatedly will show interest in the position, but it also might annoy someone enough to just give you an interview. xD
I'm sure you're doing most, or all, of this already. Just some advice on what helped me during an employment drought.

Dasva is the ex military man (as is Krizz but this doesn't apply to him) who hates the world and plots a way to destroy most of it.
