No one just sets explosives to kill people for the hell of it unless they're an unhinged sociopath. He's likely got some grievance and they're going to pummel it out of him. I can't understand why, if killing people was the goal, they didn't set the bombs off at the start of the race instead. Shitty murderers.
Terrorism is a catch-all buzzword that gets thrown around way too easily these days. It's not even a good word.

I'm hearing reports right now that are saying he has two maybe serious wounds on his neck and leg.

I read somewhere that the older brother said something about people being unable to control themselves. I assume it's some type of attempt to fix the flaws of society or some such delusional nonsense.
Actually, I find what the brother said kind of ironic. Cerberus.Pleebo said: » No death penalty in Massachusetts. Hence people calling all killings in the name of jihad terrorism (when they aren't all terrorism) and avoid calling crimes that are meant to terrorize terrorism. So, simply curious, what specifies when something is terrorism versus mass murder or what?
Terrorism generally applies to attacks that are meant to cause panic at large in society. Generally mass murder is meant to terrorize. However there are some exceptions. Jonestown was mass murder, but not necessarily terrorism.
So if he did this because he wanted to murder a bunch of people with no political agenda, he's not a terrorist?
I'd be incredibly critical of said legal definitions. Just seems like they massage words to fit whatever they want it to fit, whether it's accurate or not.
I don't know how federal law would apply to this specific case, but I don't see why terrorism requires a political slant.
Jonestown was meant as mass murder, but to kill a very specific subset of people. It wasn't meant to put the rest of society in fear. We don't know Tsarnaev's motivations yet, but if he simply wanted to place bombs and hurt people I don't see why his attacks weren't designed to instill terror, especially with the types of weapons used. You don't need a politcal agenda to be crazy. Cerberus.Tikal said: » I'd be incredibly critical of said legal definitions. Way to much crap being thrown around without any real facts.
No one knows if they are Muslim, or if they did this as a larger plot, or if they were people just sick of society and wanted to do something big. |
