Apparently, my uncle owes the county $200+, so even though I don't owe any money on the water bill, they went ahead and shut it off anyways.

Well, I guess I'm just going to do w/o water if this is what I get when I'm actually trying to pay bills here for once

if you have any cool neighbors, ask them to let you fill some 5 gallon buckets from thier outdoor faucet. that way, you could still use the tiolet, cook, & have drinking water.

if no cool neighbors, wait until they go to work, & fill them anyway.

Damn dude - wtf. Its illegal to shut the water over here lol. They go to the general attorney, bring a court case against you, then the court orders your bank to hold a certain amount and get a standing order in place to transfer the amount to the water and electricity's bank account.
The amount they hold/transfer each month can't exceed 10% of your disposable income.
Sounds like the US needs to take some advice from the UAE lol.

EDIT: And we're a Desert nation, Water here is rarer than oil, literally lol.

I had an issue like that in a place I used to live. The previous tenant left with a 300$ bill for water/sewer, they tried to force me to pay it after I signed up for water/sewer in that place. They shut the water off and I went down and bitched then bitched at my landlord and they fixed the problem.

Sadly the way towns view it, it will probably be treated as a lein on the property, and until the past due balance is paid you'll be SOL.

Just go w/o

I did for a year+ already before getting it turned back on, which it has been for less than half a year.

Apparently he was getting charged for the sewer separately when the water was off, which is ***, considering we're putting nothing into the sewer when we have no water

I just called and had the water terminated.

Will get the balance forward and the deposit back at least.

*** them. Not paying for a sewer when we weren't putting anything into it to begin with

its a steel for me tbh. Personalized work out plan and an hour a week with a trainer costs 1,000$ a month over here.

All that information is free on the internet and I already closed the account/having them send the forward payment/deposit back.

The city of St. Pete can kiss my ***. Went a year+ without water before, it's not gonna hurt me now either.

There's a lot of good info and a lot of shitty info. Key word "customized"

Seriously, if you're not up for it I'll understand. But Customized primary data based work out plan is worth it.

Like I said, information is free. I can help you anyways. I have no professional qualifications though so idk if what works for me will work for you, so I wouldn't feel right charging, especially for something that wouldn't take me more than a few minutes to type up in the first place.

and anything from me would just be regurgitated from them or another couple of youtube pages. At least they have read research papers and things of that sort.

I just go by trail and error of youtuber's info.

anyways if you want help, I can help, but that has 0 to do with this. *** this city, seriously. They can let that sewer bill keep piling up every month too, because it's never going to get paid.

Sewer fees are just part of owning a house. Even if you don't "use" it, the house is still hooked up to the sewer lines. Its pretty much a "tax" that is used to pay for maintenance. Just because you don't drive doesn't mean you don't pay road fees our of your pay check.

Well, a bill has never once come to this house, so if they're going to let it build up over a period of time(since apparently this account has been opened since 2008), then simply shut the water off and say okay pay us all this now, *** them. I can go without.

I make enough to pay the current bills. Not enough for this backpay as well.

They're connected to the point where they can shut my water off, but not connected to the point where I can take my forwarded balance and put that towards the sewer bill? That doesn't make any sense at all. Was willing to work with them until they said no to that.

The reason they haven't sent a bill is because the water was shut off. Once you try to reactivate the water, they will also charge you the back pay, reactivation fees and then the regular bills will start again.

nope, was able to get the water turned on by itself after a year of having it off. They just decided to pull this stunt now

I don't know if it exists if FLA, but try calling 211. They usually have things in place to help people out who haven't used them before for stuff like this.

Its not a stunt, lol. Money was owed on that account. You have to pay the back pay to make it current.

Not being billed, or even being told that I was being charged until years later when they just want to say "Surprise" was the stunt; not owing them money

Well, they are within the right and really, its your uncle that *** up.

Could have tried making a new account instead of using his, but since you don't actual own the house or rent it, guess you couldnt do that.

Read what you signed or agreed to when you signed up for gas/water/electric.
I didn't sign up for it. My uncle went to jail, I simply kept paying to keep it on.

Read the pamplets in your bill, it gives updates on changes occuring with that utility.

I've posted pictures of the bill in this thread. Not a single thing on it indicated anything about any sort of sewer back pay, just what I was charged for the month of the bill.

Well, the water is on for another day, time to fill up as many gallon/2 liter jugs and may go buy a few garbage cans and fill them up all the way as well. If I can get enough to have a 2 month supply of water, then my uncle can deal with the ***when he comes back.

113 gallons of water; should last me until my uncle gets out of jail in June and I'll let him handle his own debt at that time.

Yeah.. about that.. Make sure you move that water around. Stagnant untreated water is a source of many, some potentially fatal, illnesses.

Malaria is the start of your problems.

It is *** disgusting that they are allowed to bill like this. Even the simple explanation that was posted was ridiculously complex.

I think the water in those is to fill the tub and toilet, not to drink.. At least I hope not.
