On that note wince we're talking about Usu +1, would Usu+1 Head/Hands/Feet plus Tantra Legs/Thaumas coat + Windbuffet belt work well? I see in the main post by Cair that he has that same set except with Tenryu +1, which will never happen ever for me.

TP.
Usu head+1>Feet+1
Tenryu+1 if u can if not miodio=brego(depending on buffs/target).

Or go for usu+1 head/Thaumas/usu+1 hands/Twilight/Tantra legs+2/Tantra feet+2. But overall my previous comment is ahead.>

In case anyone was curious, tlalpoloani comes from Achuka's wildskeeper reive.

Augmentable?

DOES IT REALLY NEED TO BE!?
Unless I'm mistaken, it needs to be if it wants to compete with the Skirmish wep

Ninzas with average augment beat tlalpoloani. For instance I got a ninza with D62 dex 7 delay 51 today on first try and it's basically = tlalpoloani. I'm far from max DMG too.

So about tlalpoloani... I am really interested in them myself but i generally only play monk to farm salvage II now and days.(WHM,MNK,BRD-marchx2-) I use 85 vera and was wondering how good Spiral Shijin is on fodder mobs? VS generally does 2k without impetus and 3k+ with it. Worth going for them? I really enjoy aftermath of vera but i can see how sustained DPS from tlalpoloani would be better. I assume in voidwatch tlalpoloani + SS would outclass an 85vera fast but what about on most fodder mobs?

I don't see myself even doing skrimish/getting the weapons at the current cost and i already have 100k bayld. I was working on 90 vera with what little time i use to play but lost interest when i saw these.

Tlalpoloani rape 90 vere atleast, it's like full time ODD.

Took it to 2 BR2 runs today and it pulled ahead of my 90 vere significantly even with only 4/5 shijin :x

Damn. Il have to work on that then. Probably wait til they patch the cost of the KI and just save up because it will most likely take more then one run to get the weapons.

I plugged the Tlapoloani into Monten's Spreadsheet and used this thread's High-End (Assuming those are current best) TP sets and V-Smite's Top WS on 99 Vereth and Top Shijin for Tlapoloani and it looks like its a little buff dependent?

On Bhukhis, The 'Hulk-Fists' are a clear win but against stronger and stronger mobs, like Qilin and Ig-Alima, the 99 Vereths pull further and further ahead. Probably a case of being attack capped? I didn't do a full run through in the spreadsheet but it looks like if your pDIF is capped, 'Hulk Hands' win. So with the right buffs, it looks like a fair chance to my un-trained eyes

Edit:
It looks like they definitely compete with 99 Vereth tho and from what I hear, these are infinitely easier to obtain? Works for me, I hate farming Chloris xD

So has anyone done the numbers on this set but replacing the hat with Thurandaut Chapeau? Not sure if weapon makes a different but with Tlalpoloani. Also hands wise would Thurandaut Gloves be better? Sorry i suck with the spreadsheets.

I use thurandaut hands and Rajas over the mustela/thunder soul. I had thurandaut beating mustela in my spreadsheets

I had thurandaut head losing to ocelemoh+1

So hag stone vs pot. bomb. On the spreadsheet hag comes out ahead as the stp is just enough to help. However, in practice everytime I am on monk I'm getting punched in the face. Whether its salvage, or voidwatch or rieves or whatever. I would say 95% of the time I get hit at least once during my tp cycle. Would this or wouldn't this nullify the stp on hag and make potes. the better option? I have both, just want to make sure I'm using the right one.

Thing is, most people (me at least), use Monk on lower buff, low man stuff (like Salvage/etc). So in that case, Vereth pulls ahead.

The real comparison should be lvl 90 Vereth versus Tlapoloani or the Skirmish weapons, since 95% of the Vereth mnks haven't taken it to 99.

I know that at 5/5 merits Shijin Spiral has a DEX modifier of 100%, but I've been having trouble figuring out how much DEX a piece would need to make it better than another piece that provides Attack. For example, would something like Tantra Cyclas +1 be better or worse than, say, an unaugmented Kirin's Osode?

I guess what I'm trying to ask is how much DEX = Attack?
Does 1 DEX = 1 Attack?
1 DEX = 2 Attack?
1 DEX = 0.5 Attack?
I realize putting things in such terms might be a bit oversimplistic, but it would really help me to figure out which pieces I should be using for my Shijin build.

Also, please forgive me if this has already been covered and I've either overlooked or misunderstood it. I sometimes have trouble making sense of the damage formulas for these sort of things.

In the case of Tantra Cyclas +1 vs Kirin's Osode. Kirin's Osode in my opinion would win. lol I would answer the other questions you asked but don't think I'm the best person for that, but i can assure u that Kirin's Osode wins.

It's roughly a 1 dex = 2 atk but if an item has 20 atk and another has 10 dex making them basically even. i always go with the dex so you never run the risk of capping atk and making the extra atk void.

I was just messing with the spreadsheet, it looks like
ItemSet 298871
beats
ItemSet 298872
(I also tried with Miodio)when I did it with Qilin, but loses when it comes to fodder mobs.
(augmented Tenryu win on both though obviously)

Hey guys

Had a couple gear questions for Shijin Spiral:

How does the following compare?

Thurandaut Chapeau vs. Ocelomeh Headpiece +1

Mustela Gloves vs Thurandaut Gloves

Anguinus Belt vs Prosillio Belt vs Warwolf Belt

With Mustela mitts, please keep in mind that if Prosillio belt is the way forward, the DA -5% nullifies the DA on that piece. For the time being I'm using kirins osode as that stinking body piece still won't drop. Not paying 25mil for it neither lol

Any info/advice on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I use Thurandaut gloves and head, if you have access I'd get a Wanion Belt from PW. If not, I was using a Artful +1.

Thurandaut head/hands also have +10 accuracy on them, you'll need them in adouling areas some NQ mobs have high evasion.

Oh, thats not what I meant. I plugged in Tlalpoloani vs 99 Vereths and counted for Aftermath and everything and 99 Vereth only won vs Super High Level mobs like Ig-Alima and almost tied vs Qilin. Against weaker mobs, 99 Vereths get curb-stomped so 90 Vereths arent even in the same ball park lol. For your situation, where you fight mostly lesser mobs/low man stuff, Tlalpoloani is easily the best option (As well as the other H2H Weapons PChan mentioned, with the right augments)

Now Im interested to see how SE plans on balancing the existing super weapons to see how they'll fix the issues caused by these boosted new weapons lol

I was comparing sets to the op TP set, I was tossing out an alternate set that I havent seen listed, since tenryu+1s arent that easy to get. But it looks like windbuffet/brego gloves also beat the twilight/mustela set.

What were the actual DPS numbers you were getting from the spreadsheet? I haven't taken the time to do the math comparison.

I'm at my school for graduation photos at this present moment (was home an hour ago) but I'll have the exact dps values for you when i get back.

But as I said, against Bukhis, the 'hulk fists' were winning by 8? Dps or so and then I moved onto qilin and the 'Hulks' were still winning but i think it was .3 dps or pretty much a tie. and against Ig-alima, the vereths were winning by 3? dps or so. Its looking like a classic case of Crtitical Hit WS advantages vs HNM but in cases where level correction is not present, Vereth cant compete with that massive 74 Dmg

these results were from memory so i'll have the actual numbers when i get home later :)
