NCAA Sues Over Pennsylvania Law

In the contest over which is more important, football or protecting children, the state of Pennsylvania has come down strongly for football but the NCAA seems to root for children.

Ploitico: "NCAA sues over Penn State law" (but it isn't Penn state as in the college, its the state legislature.)

It isn't really that the state of Pennsylvania thinks that football coaches should have the unrestricted ability to bugger boys, its that they think that the NCAA's fines should go into the state of Pennsylvania's general fund INSTEAD of being used for child abuse prevention.

But then again the state of Pennsylvania is ruled by Republicans, so maybe it IS about the unrestricted buggering of boys. You just never know with a party that seems to be just FILLED with closet cases.

Edit: Penn State college has NOTHING to do with this. Thankfully.

I'm not a fan of Republican policies obviously, but that statement is pretty dumb.

When I first heard about this, long before the article you linked was made, NCAA was wanting to take the fines and use them throughout the league for purposes other than child abuse prevention. PA wanted to spend the money on in-house problems, iirc. Now, after a few months, my memory about what was said may be fuzzier than I'd like, but I don't recall hearing NCAA or PA mention a specific goal for the money. I think they were talking a lot more broad array of subjects.

This lawsuit is complete horsesh#t. The NCAA doesn't have the right to hold sporting events in Penn. Also the law doesn't prevent them from holding games. The state and municipality have every single right to carry taxes/fines they see fit. If a business like the NCAA doesn't like the business practice of Penn, nothing forces them to have a business there.

60 million dollars is a lot of money, obviously. Pennsylvania just wants that money to stay in the state, and be used how they see fit, which would almost certainly include child abuse prevention. The NCAA was not even remotely affected by the crime as much as the citizens of Pennsylvania, certainly not 60 million dollars worth.

I could name the names of outed Republicans but you can look them up yourself. Understand that those who have been caught and outed are a small fraction of the closet cases.

I have developed a great (and late blooming) respect for the Log Cabin Republicans, comprised of out and proud gays. They, and not any liberals, were the ones who forced "don't ask, don't tell" into the courts and into oblivion.

The hyperbole in the quoted paragraph is in the "so maybe it IS about the unrestricted buggering of boys" part. The "just FILLED with closet cases" part is the stark truth.
