[Dev] Seekers of Adoulin (Mar 13)
I wouldn't play a game with a rmah (stares at d3) but I wouldn't mind spending money to reset cool downs on events ( I work 9-12 hrs a day and I have weekends off I wouldn't mind doing something I'm working on a day off for 8 hrs straight if they let me). I also wouldn't mind spending money to change my name in game either. I just hope this new expansion doesn't turn out like wotg since I prolly will be come back in march to try it..
Quote: n a broader sense it's obvious that SE has never wanted to add things from out-of-game purchases that would affect your actual combat performance in most of the game (Tidal Talisman, Destrier Beret etc), if you're suggesting that they adapt an FTP model where they sell power I'm sure almost everyone will be against it. If that's not what you're saying though: lol, that's why all of those things they did add+security token cost money or were linked to buying things. They've been doing P2W for years. You really underestimate the amount of useless crap people would buy.
Hell, people were/are willing to spend 10 bucks on chocobo hat/shirt. Pretty much much spent 30 for all the add-ons that was just an excuse to sale 3 pieces of gear since the stories were not that great. That could even be their f2p model. Buy a storyline for 10 bucks and get some kinda gear out of it. I'm sure a lot of people would pay for that. Lakshmi.Rearden said: » lol, that's why all of those things they did add+security token cost money or were linked to buying things. They've been doing P2W for years. Except none of the items they've sold have ever been selling power. You don't need the Mog Satchel. Quote: That could even be their f2p model. Buy a storyline for 10 bucks and get some kinda gear out of it. I'm sure a lot of people would pay for that. They'd make way less money, is the point. You need to propose something that would be both lucrative for SE and beneficial for the players for it to have any sort of realism otherwise it's basically just you wanting something for free. I love free stuff too, but it's not going to just happen. I don't like micro-transactions, I'd just not buy anything afraid of wasting money and in the end wouldn't get any content. With a sub at least I know what I'm getting and don't feel left out/guilty.
But just my personal feeling towards it, not getting into a debate about the best model, I don't know anything about it tbh. Can think of lots of stuff, all things that people would buy. All of the things people would spend money on continuously (as in, keep spending, over and over) are actual performance enhancements. The movement speed, skillup rates, etc, and SE has shied away from ANYTHING over the years that even looks like pay2win. The real-money based items are all limited time offers that do nothing/little to actually help you with the game itself (except the satchel, which was done to lower the amount of support calls they got from hacked players). If they're going to go ahead and cross that line anyway, then why wouldn't they just go all the way and toss Almace in the item shop? Because it doesn't have to go from one extreme to another? They could find a healthy balance.
F2P could mean more people playing, which means more people they would spend money on services they offer in game. Kimble2013 said: » They could find a healthy balance If SE has proven one thing in all these years, it's that they don't know what balance is, and couldn't find it with a map, compass, and several Sherpa guides. I think developers understand the stigma associated with placing "legendary" type weapons or armor up for sale. People buy useless crap though, I spent a few bucks on GW2 just to make my armor look different and for more inventory/bank spots. Same thing as buying the token but it wasn't masked behind some *** security token which is apparently easily hacked (thank god 14 is going with the mobile route blizzard did)
GW2 you could straight up buy a legendary if you wanted (from the auction house) but no one has them seriously up for sale. You can't go and pay anet for them though. It really seems the only argument people have against F2P is that SE would make it so you could buy any weapon/armor you want.
It doesn't have to be like that and a lot of examples have been given to how they could make money being F2P without having to sell armor/weapons. I am still waiting for 1 reason from you guys that would benefit everyone from the game going free 2 play. It being free doesn't count since it means there will be a cash shop.
It being free does count. lol. It would be set up so you wouldn't HAVE to use the cash shop if you don't want to.
To flip this on you then, I havent heard one reason ho F2P wouldnt benefit everyone. And saying it wouldn't because people could buy armor/weapons doesn't count because that wouldn't happen. Lakshmi.Rearden said: » security token which is apparently easily hacked O.O please let this not be true. Could just go the route of just selling the ki sets for like a dollar... Wouldn't turn it to super easy mode since you would still need to beat that monster but there would be a profit to be made on SE part. No, my argument against it is that it would make less money, overall. SE has proven they don't like the idea of pay2win, and no one (or at least not everyone) is going to spend 15/30/45 a month on cosmetic stuff, every month. I'd personally have no issue with F2P, but I think it would be less profitable, and I'm sure SE has at least had a discussion about it and reached the same conclusion: if we don't want to sacrifice the sanctity of the game itself, we will make less money. The only thing in here that doesn't give an unfair advantage would be the mog house stuff and than again depending on the bonus you could get from them it just might be unfair. Doesn't have to be only cosmetic. The idea of buying key items, resetting cool down timers, etc has been toss around as well.
Even having more AH slots, storage, etc. Nickeny said: » Could just go the route of just selling the ki sets for like a dollar... If you could buy Chloris or Glavoid popsets for a dollar, literally EVERYONE would have Verethragna and Ukonvasara, because getting the obnoxious part for less than two subscription fees would be impossible to resist. Consider that you need 50x50x75 to get a 90 empy at a dollar a pop... That isn't a bad idea... The main reason you get a empy relic or mythic is the ability to get thru the harder content easier. If someone doesn't have the time to dedicate to farming for a month there choices are atm is to either snail thru it or buy it from people with Gil or do both. At least this rate they can spend 10 bucks if the areas are super packed and still get some progress done.

Siren.Kalilla said: » Oh, I certainly don't hate the website. I was half-joking to begin with. I think negativity is pervasive across pretty much any forum where the user base doesn't have control over the direction of the content (and by that I mean to exclude stuff like hobbyists that don't rely on a source). I'm a huge baseball fan, and the nerds I talk about baseball with can be just as bitchy, petty, and abrasive at time as anyone who posts here. I just bring it up because this isn't the first time I've seen you bring this up before.
I'll stay out of it though. Siren.Kalilla said: » I just bring it up because this isn't the first time I've seen you bring this up before. I'll stay out of it though. o.O ok. Thanks for continuing to update the OP, by the way, I just got really excited when I saw you uploaded screenshots of the new mobs. New crabs to beat up! But whenever I'm put off by members of the FFXIAH community, I try to remember it's the internet that's like that, not this community alone. It's mostly because this is one of the few communities I frequent. Online used to be a friendlier place not full of snarky ***, and when I see more examples of that poor attitude on this site, it sad to me. And I mean that honestly. It's just misplaced blame. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Im so excited cant wait for march to come around those new areas are going to be nice to explore.
