I want to level Bonecraft to 100 one day and i plan to craft the RR Hairpin line. (i am 62 atm so still about 6 level to go before i wanted to start with it)

What you guys think, should i wait with starting that until i have both my +skill guild items? i have the Glases and the Bone Purification atm

or maybe even better get the ring so +1% chance to maybe not break?

Nice necro, to answer question get the guild items as soon as possible, do guild points daily. Starting 6 under isnt to bad, and as for above posts, It's 5 [Natural] lvls below cap for break/skill. GL to 100 ^^

68 will be 3 under cap, wont start it much earlyer cause its quite expensive and i dont want more breaks then needed.
i do guildpoints as often as possible or i wont have 100k+ already w
just not sure if i should wait with going on with crafts till i have the body... if it really helps to wait for it ><

Idc what this necro ***is, its the only thread i found about this and dont wanted to make new one:P

If a thread has been dead for (2 weeks?) new posts are considered Necro, but anyway. As for will the +1 items & ring help on making the hairpins?

The ring won't help significantly, your break rate will be around 10~25% depending on when you start making them (closes to about 10% at -3, and 5% at cap).

Guild support & +1 items will help push you towards break/HQ rate as though you were at the heightened level, but they do not affect your skill gain (at all) just the effect of results by pushing up your skill. There are a FEW RARE instances that you don't want this, mostly crafting something where it's full loss & you can't desynth with NPC sell price horrible, that you would rather chance skill up on a break and keep some materials for another attempt.

If your going to buy the ring anyway go ahead, but otherwise just get the key items to craft what your looking at, the +1 gear & the guild sign first they will help out as much or more in the long run.

so in generall the +1 otems and support wont really affect skill ups

do i understand it right: beeing natural skill of -3 below cap and getting advanced support; you will be (skilling wise) still at -3 but whens about success(HQ what ever) like +-0?

In the look on RR stuff i for sure want as little as possible breaks ;)

I was wondering about that... I went from 60 to 70 with only .1, I haven't see a .2 in forever. They are still possible past 60? I know they are for fishing but for my other craft they seem to be gone.

Edit: Yeah, only 0.1's after 60.

I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure you can still get .2 & .3 in the 90's they just become increasingly rare. Been a few years and systems since i skilled anything though. But yeah just after 60 stop expecting anymore than 1 skill rank every stack of materials, eventually 1 every 3-4 stacks.

Just wanted to post a few things;

1) Skilling on a break is 5. It has always been 5, it will always be 5.
It is from your Base skill. Gear and support wont change it.

2) Anything within 5 levels of cap (with augmented skill) should be fine to skill off.
So if you are 10 under cap, have Advanced support (+3) and 2x +1 (+2) items, you should be able to skill up with accaptable losses.+

3) If your Augmented Skill (Support/gear) puts you over the cap of an item, you will still recieve Skill ups. If you are crafting a lv50 item and have a skill of 49, even if you have Advanced support (+3) putting you at 52 skill, you will still get Skill ups.

+Acceptable losses to me may be different to your own standards. YMMV.

For me, I try to skill on items that are 2-6 above my current skill level.
If the synth is a profit (with fast sales) or only a very slight loss (with the next synth being a bigger loss) i'll take it to cap.
