Presidential Debate THREE
Asura.Lilbuttons said: » Gary Johnson is our man, imo. pet peeve .___. Sounds like a plan!
Ok I'm not trying to re-derail, just wanting to give some insight onto the previously misunderstood LDS tangent.
See I was raised in the church, my parents at the time were practicing members and I went through all the teachings / sermons and class's that good little Mormon boys go through. I ended up converting out of the church after I left home for the US Military at the age of 17. So while I'm not a practicing member I do understand why they do the things they do and why the rules are written the way they are. The Church recognizes polygamy right now, though multiple marriages to living people are currently not allowed. The original reason for the support of polygamy has to do with death of young men and women who were married during that time. According to Abrahamic religions people married on earth by a priest are married for eternity in heaven. This means that should one of them die young, the other is still considered married and any relationship they get into afterwards would be adultery. The only way around that is to support multiple marriages in heaven, which in turn means you must support multiple marriages on earth. It's a technicality that was abused for a long time. Anyone member of the LDS church who enters into marriage with multiple concurrent partners would have their priesthood stripped (effectively your a non-member) and no longer be recognized by the LDS church. They can call themselves whatever they want and follow whatever teachings they want, as the USA affords 1st Amendment protections for religious beliefs, but they are no longer considered members of the LDS church. Fellowship would not be extended to them and no ceremony they performed would be recognized by the Church. There are actually several "colony's" of ex-LDS church members living in Northern Mexico that still practice polygamy. One of the bigger ones is the Romney family, and yes it's ~that~ Romney family. Mitt Romney's cousins to be exact. Anyhow if anyone has further questions I can answer them in tells. There are many weird things about the Church that is heavily misunderstood due to how insular they can be. Good little LDS children are taught never to hang out with, date or be friends with non-Church members. This is enforced to varying levels depending on the region and how asinine the Elders Quorum is. I personally couldn't stand it and left. So who won ?

Though honestly I'm siding with the Democrats on this. Obama always had good talking skills, the first debate caught him off guard because the rules had changed from the previous years. PBS had an interview with Jim Lehrer where he explained this year they wanted to "do something new and different" and that they were going to push an open ended format that had the moderator take a "hands off" approach. After Obama learned that the debates would be the verbal equivalent of a MMA fight rather then an actual debate he started doing really well. Wow rewatching it and just noticed the absolutely DEADLY GLARE Obama was giving Romney. It was the "I'm going to kill you soon" type look, made Romney a bit nervous.
/accepts victory First, I would like to thank satan and all that is evil for my win tonight... Second, I greatly appreciate your apathy and your willingness to surrender, should you survive the initial onslaught in my bid to enslave mankind, certainly you will receive a position of slightly less discomfort in my hideous... well let's not give that away... Vote Kodos! volkom said: » So who won ? This is another debate where the liberals say Obama won and conservatives say Romney won. Which means Romney wins overall because he didn't loose. Obama did not do anything that will inevitably change the trajectory of the race. The momentum is still with Mitt, and baring some huge controversy that pops up in the next few week, it is his election to loose. my dad sent me an email this morning
about illegal imigration in arizona. Its kinda has a political spin thing to it but I still thought it was pretty funny :S I didnt know where to put it and thought it would be too politcal w/e for RT so just throwing it in here :S Bahamut.Refreshtwo said: » volkom said: » So who won ? all the polls say obama lowest i seen is obama 53% tie 26% mitt 21%. mitt flip hard to try to look like a moderate he just tryed to copy some of obama talking point's he even try to add green energy to his "5 point plan" Obama called him out on this and many thing's so it mitt biggest loss in a debate. add this here to for review It's interesting how it's either very close between them or Mitt a bit lower and tie being in there as well when it's like 85% Obama in the polls here and in many other European countries with no tie. volkom said: » my dad sent me an email this morning... Not that there is any validity to that "email" and it is 100% "spun", are you saying that you'd rather America be more like: Afghanistan, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, China, or North Korea? After reading the excommunication diversion I am SO happy that we Jews never rebuilt the Temple nor reinstituted the High Priest.
Only religions with a central hierarchy CAN practice excommunication. This is not to say that decentralized religions are without flaws, look at the recent Amish beard cutting trial or the travails of Moshe Dayan's daughter when she tried to get married in Israel. BTW, the Catholic church considers excommunicated Catholics to still be Catholic. Just ones that are denied the comforts of the religion. /derail off Sylph.Kandu said: » volkom said: » my dad sent me an email this morning... I had some lulz today when somebody was preaching their Fox rhetoric to a group of people, and he admitted that he watches/listens to them because they say what he wants to hear, I kindly pointed out to him that what he wants to hear and the truth are often not one in the same, he pulled the "kool-aid" and "you'll learn when you're older" cards, as expected.

It's such a fake expression and it makes me grit my teeth.
sums up romney in debate#3 whenever obama was speaking, this expression basically implies "you're an idiot, i'm not listening to anything you're saying blahblahblahblahblah" ![]() and whenever romney was speaking obama just had a regular expression that indicated "i'm listening to what you're saying" ![]() Romney's body language is just really disturbing. When he's annoyed, he'll avert and shift his eyes while mockingly sneering and making a jeremy lin/cool story bro meme face. I was watching that and Romney was pissing me off with his smirk while Obama was explaining himself like a normal person lol. I do like Obama more, mostly because Romney always looks like such a fake *** |
